That would have been a google PAF for her and no adventure with "Dr. Gelman." Sigh. Unless she decided to have someone google the Honeycrisp (which sounds like a cereal to me!) instead of doing the Double-Dip.

I wonder if she could have avoided the Double Dip, if not for the pressure of TDC? Apple was the only one of those fruits where crispness is desirable, right? A crisp peach is generally unripe. Not to mention that Minnesota is too far north to be peach-growing territory.

Hmmm...an opera singer followed by a music teacher. Is there a theme going on here?

Nihil obstat®.

Yeah it sounded like a TDC as she let the clock run down and must have been trying to eliminate the other choices.

I never would have thought that honeycrisp apples were a regional knowledge thing.

Are they not available outside of the Midwest?

They might be, but I haven't noticed. I prefer Empire apples.

Have you memorized every variety of apple available in your local supermarkets?

They grow a lot of peaches in Michigan, why not Minnesota?

Hmmmm. Looks like most of Michigan's peaches are grown along Lake Michigan to take advantage of the lake effect warmth. Not many grown in Minnesota because they are on the wrong side of the lakes.

Yes, I have. :P

(Likely helps that I have a school teacher for a wife, and there always is an apple unit during the Fall.)

10K: I knew I had seen a likeable father & son team on AR recently. I don't watch AR, but due to sports events pushing CBS's nightly lineup into later times of night, I generally set my VCRs for 9:00pm -12:00am, & wind up catching a good part of AR in the early slot, rather than the programs I do watch. I thought AR could easily be the right answer, but wasn't sure. Would ATA here.

15K: I would use this name for an apple, not one of the other choices. On the other hand, I've never actually seen or eaten a honeycrisp. So 50/50 here.

25K: I have this condition; its probably due to an autoimmune thing I'm blocking on the name of right now. When your mouth is too dry, your teeth, very sadly, decay. There are actually antibodies to tooth decay bacteria in your saliva. (Your eyes get too dry, too; same condition. They are not of course subject to tooth decay, but can get scratched by eyelashes & such much more easily in a dry state.) You can keep your mouth moist during the day, but its kind of hard to do that at night & sleep too. Maybe if I ever get the bite guard, it'll make me salivate as well as not grind my teeth in my sleep. This is definitely TMI, by the way.

I've never heard the condition given this name, though. My dentist just says "your mouth is very dry; are you taking any drugs?", because various drugs can cause this, to which I say "no". But "xero" means "dry", I believe. "Xerography" is literally "dry writing". Hence "Xerox". And "stoma" means "opening". Has to be "dry mouth".

Dammit. I called JFK before the choices came up, he came up, I picked him, and I went home weeping.

Too bad, because I nailed the last two questions.

Since we've picked the nit of the question referring to the Alamo as an "American defeat", it should also be pointed out that when the Lend-Lease Act was passed in March 1941, America was technically still neutral.
