Dead or Alive? Game 26 12/27/07

Identify the following people as Dead or Alive. Then take a guess at the theme – two words in my notes. In each case, there is a third word that could be added to each person’s description that would make the theme even more specific for that person. THERE WILL BE NO PENALTY FOR GUESSING at this third word, but you are only allowed one guess per person. Good luck!

1. John M. Coetzee
2. Barbara McClintock
3. Kary Mullis
4. Dario Fo
5. Mikhail Gorbachev
6. Herbert A. Simon
7. Mohammad elBaradei
8. Pablo Neruda
9. V. S. Naipaul
10. Murray Gell-Mann

They are Nobel Laureates? and to guess a third word for each of them, I would guess that 1, 5 and 7 are Peace, 2 is Medicine, 3, 4, 8 and 9 are Literature, 6 is Economics and 10 is Physics. If I am right about these being Nobel Laureates, I suspect that at least one is Chemistry, but no idea which one.

Nobel Prize

Doubt there are that many that won the peace prize, especially since I am pretty sure of 1 already but since there is no penalty maybe I will catch one or two more of the ones I don't know!
