WWTBAM Bored

November 23, 1999..... or as we like to call it at Rankings Central..... Day One.

The Bored as we know it was born on this day 10 years ago. Yes, it existed on the ABC site as far back as the inaugural August 1999 run of WWTBAM, but somehow the Bored was hacked and brought down after that. What was salvaged from the wreckage was reposted and the Bored reopened under a new format on this day. About 1000 posts were all dropped at about 6:00 PM Bored Time, the very first belonging to one Meg Hurley who went by the handle gusgerbils.

Since Eyegor and eventually I became the unofficial historians of this little corner of cyberspace, and we both came along in 2000, this day of the rebirth of the Bored has been celebrated as the Bored's birthday. In the 10 years since then, we have moved from the Go Bored (Which was the Bumblebee Bored until one of the veterans showed you the superior interface), to the Love Boat, to the TUB, and now here to the Raspberry Bored. We haev been chased to The Cellar by the Morlocks, forced onto the Madigan Men Bored by _TPTB_, and set adrift for a week on no fewer than 4 different Boreds set up by BB's after the whole Go/ABC message board capability was scrapped 2 years ago. And yet through it all...... here we are.

Many have come, and many have gone. Some have made huge footprints in their short time on the Bored, while others have been around forever without barely making a ripple. Many have come and few have stayed, but those who have became part of what is, and perhaps I'm a bit biased, but the best little community on the whole damn internet. If there is another place like this, I have sure not found it.....

So let's celebrate ten years, four Boreds, several hundred BB's, and roughly 1.5 million posts!!!! And hopefully, many, many more of all (except more Boreds of course!) to come........

I've only been around for one of those 10 years, but I can say with certainty that this is an excellent bunch of people to post with. You guys are great!

I'll second that!

I am certainly not very 'wordy' here and despite being here for most of the last ten years I'm ranked what....#130 or so. I also play on an ATV bored, a diesel truck bored (very active, usually having 1,500+ logged on at any time) and the DIY bored (where I have about 6,000 posts ....imagine that). But if I were somewhere and needed help and only had access to a computer - this is the bored that I would call out to.

Good people here. Real people here.

The time has flown by. I have formed friendships here that have lasted and will continue. I enjoy
visiting those friends from time to time and a few have stopped by to see me. I'm working on getting
a few more to come my way.

It's been fun and I'm glad to be a small part, even if I am the quiet one of the bunch.
