Keilani Goggins (ToT #2)
Homemaker, mom of two
Mere says Keilani's husband was a nervous wreck when she answered for $100K as he did not want her to guess at all. In fact she knew the answer. Mere says Keilani's husband says again that she would not guess this time either.
Keilani wants a new home instead of living in a town home attached to others.
Time banked: 3:22. Total time: 4:07
Potential $1M question:
In a failed assassination attempt, what U.S. President was shot at twice at point-blank range, but survived because both guns misfired?
A. John Adams B. Andrew Jackson
C. James Polk D. Martin Van Buren
She said when she was young she was into Presidents. She kind of wanted a Presidential question, but not this one.
She indicated that she had an inkling that it was Andrew Jackson because he was a kind of gangster type.
She said if she risked it and lost, she might not have a husband to come back to. Mere then says then she wouldn't need a house.
She said her mom is in the audience and her mom didn't raise a fool. She takes the $100K and leaves.
B. Andrew Jackson (1:04)

How lucky for Sam Murray that he's been the only one not to be a coward with his intuition. This would have been way more interesting if there had been some incentive to guess. All these people who think they know, don't risk it, and end up wasting a correct hunch. It just makes me sick.
But, no guts, no glory, so I'm actively rooting for Sam at this point.

I agree no guts no glory, but we don't know who has the guts until they're in the seat. I give Sam the bartender (what is this, Cheers?) much credit for the cajones to risk it but I think I am still hoping Jehan has the chance to take it. She has MUCH more to lose so it may be unlikely but I hope it is exciting.

THIS is a $1M question?
A long time ago on PTBAM, they asked who was the first President to survive an assassination attempt. The answer was Andrew Jackson, so that automatically eliminated Adams. And AFAIK, there hadn't been another assassination attempt on a President until the one against Lincoln, which he did not survive.
Tomorrow, I go for the Nadia Comaneci.

I really thought she was going to go for it. She had the right idea, as Andrew Jackson was easily the best choice out of the four, the one who would most likely be shot because of his politics (the Indians, etc.). I remember it just becaues I thought I had remembered some fact that Andrew Jackson was responsible for starting the Secret Service due to his assassination attempt.
I've known the last 3 now. Tomorrow's gonna be interesting, but I have a feeling Jehan will walk.
This Tournament's not half bad.

I think she will too, unless the question is a slam-dunk.
And if TPTB make it easy to create false tension, I will be extremely pissed.

Million Q:
I knew it cold. This is the 3rd so far I've known.
I always thought it would be a great BAM Q, but thought it would be a 100K, or 250K Q, not the Mill. Of course, when "you know it", its easy to say its overvalued.

The Secret Service was created in 1865 to combat counterfeit currency. From Wikipedia: "With a reported one third of the currency in circulation being counterfeit, the Secret Service was commissioned on July 5, 1865 in Washington, D.C. as the "Secret Service Division" of the Department of the Treasury and was originally tasked with the suppression of counterfeiting. Ironically, the legislation creating the agency was on Abraham Lincoln's desk the night he was assassinated."

I know they say it's easy if you know the answer, and if you're at home, but, wow. I love my history questions; I know this one even at point-blank range.
Thankfully, yeah, I went by characteristics of the presidents. Not only that, I'm usually knowing of the regards to the president; meaning "Were they disliked? Who? What extent? Enough for assassination?" That rules out Adams; didn't happen at that time, as Nelly says. I've read elsewhere about Van Buren; I've never heard him associated with assassinations. That leaves B and C. Leaning more towards Jackson, but I have no idea why Polk wants to jump out at me. Maybe it's my conscience to not be so jumpy on the question. I realize that doesn't make sense, given Jackson's temper (after all, just look at the code of Southern Duels, if you don't know what they are... Jackson was very large player in these).
Outside of that logic, I had been told this exact fact last year, around this time. Just something I remember. Useful useless info; I feast on it daily.
Given about 1:15, 30 seconds to eliminate A and D, the other 35 to get mind straight, I say Jackson, final answer, and dethrone Sam.
(Note: I have not seen Jehan's question, don't spoil me.) Unless, as it has been said, she is 110% sure, I see no reason she would go for the question. I'm expecting Sam to take home the money, as well he should, for being the only one to actually have the tenacity to go for the question.

This is the third $1M question to which I have known the answer beyond a shadow of a doubt.

"Some incentive to guess"? How about the chance to win $900,000 while risking only $75,000 on a 1 in 4 guess? Las Vegas will never offer those odds!
