As postulated in
another thread, he presumably misread this question and was trying to identify the heroine who was light yellow in color.
I must admit, before this I didn't know what color "jasmine" is... but I
think I would've picked it out and gone with it as the only color term among the options. Worst case, I might've had to ask the audience in the face of TDC.
This poor kid looks mystified even after the answer is revealed, I honestly wonder if he even realized his mistake while sitting there or if it sank in after he walked away.

Ditto here, it took a few seconds too so a likely TDC ATA.

Too bad, no major party at UM. It was obvious that Tom misread the question and thought it was referring to the color of the animated character rather than the name.

I had to chuckle when Meredith said this guy's name was Tom George. We have a Tom George who represents us in the state legislature. He's also a doctor. His big cause is getting Michigan to ban smoking in public places-which I think is a good idea. Oh, and he's running for Governor next year.
As for the contestant-he should have used ATA. I bet they would have been able to help him. I knew the answer.

The Jasmine in my backyard has white blooms on it. Maybe there are two different kinds. This could
have easily tripped me up.
Just saying...

Someone on Millionaire's Facebook page noticed that Tom has posted a blog entry talking about his experience (in fact, it's the
only post he's made to that blog). He's not happy.

He rants on and on about how no one else "got it." It seems he didn't "get" the phrase "
shares a name with" in his question. If he wants to argue whether jasmine is yellow or white, I'm with him. Since that's not his argument, he loses. Trashing New York and New Yorkers wasn't too gracious, either.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but according to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary ---
jas⋅mine [jaz-min, jas-] –noun
1. any of numerous shrubs or vines belonging to the genus Jasminum, of the olive family, having fragrant flowers and used in perfumery.
2. any of several other plants having similar fragrant flowers, as the Carolina jessamine.
3. a pale-yellow color.
Mr. George needs to put his hot seat experience behind him and get over it. And for the record, everyone that I encountered during my WWTBAM experience was wonderful!!!

Thanks for the info, Jessamine...

I agree with Tom it was a wicked question for $2,000.
However, he doesn't even know what he's arguing.

His account isn't real accurate:
Although my choice, "Nala", the lion with yellow fur seemed obvious, there was still lingering doubt in the back of mind. At this point, there was only 3 seconds remaining, and while I thought about using my "Ask the Audience," my answer was logical, and I decided to go for it, saying "C, Nala, final answer."
There were 6 seconds left, not 3. The question didn't require knowing anything about Disney movies, or even what color jasmine is. It could be rephrased: "which of these words is a color?"
It wasn't a real easy question, given the time constraints, but I don't think he did himself any favors by having an emotional outburst at the studio or by creating a blog just to write this negative account of his experience.

Particularly since he posted it before his episode aired. --Bob

It could have been worse, he could have gotten as a parting gift a Seals and Crofts album.
