I suspect that's the basis for Joel's immediate confidence when he greets Meredith.

I must assume that the producers ask them to avoid any sign of this foreknowledge, but if you watch the experts closely you can often see signs of confidence or concern that seem to mysteriously match the ease or difficulty of the question.

This question would've blown me out of the water.

I've never heard of "bagasse", but the company cafeteria recently replaced the plastic silverware and styrofoam plates with equivalents that, we're told, are made out of corn. So if faced with this question, I would've quickly and confidently said A and then walked away very unhappily.

From what I've read, "snadlapper" is even somewhat obscure in SC itself (that being the name of the state magazine notwithstanding).


Bagasse I knew from studying alternative energy sources- it's a key component in developing an energy-efficient process for making ethanol from sugar cane.

Walpurgis Night is the only question for which I would have needed a LL- I have never heard of this.
