Yay, no mumps for this "elderly" patient!

My lab tests came back finally. No mumps! And no strep, either, so I can stop the giant horse-pill Augmentins with their unpleasant side effects :) Just a nasty, horrible, lingering virus, which I am finally shaking off.

The bloodwork showed that I have mumps antibodies, so I must have been exposed as a child. It was probably a mild enough case that it passed unnoticed & was taken for just a bad cold. Whew, I can let go of my dread of getting them as an adult, & can stop worrying about getting a vaccine without the measles/rubella parts of the MMR, which I don't need.

And I'm declared safe to be around laboring women & newborns -- so Karen can uncross her legs & have that baby already!!! LOL

Last week when I inquired about finally getting a mumps vaccine (if I turned out not to have immunity), my doctor's office told me that they would see that I got it, but they would have to learn the correct vaccine dosage for "elderly patients!!!!"

Hey, now, just because I'm about to be a grandma for the 7th time....... :!:
