If I had to guess I would also have went with the English guy because Leicester is there. Tough question unless it is supposed to be rather well-known in trivia circles.

And yet another difficult question that the contestant would've known if she'd just watched Scrubs.

Nobody ever listens to me but most of the world's trivia knowledge is contained in Scrubs.

Never heard of this word. I don't trust either the audience or Joel with this question, so I'll PAF.

A. Leonardo da Vinci (:05)
I would think that after the popularity of "The Da Vinci Code" that the word Codex would automatically trigger da Vinci's name. Besides, I don't know anybody else who had a Codex besides da Vinci.

Talk about your coincidences.

CNBC just had a special on Bill Gates tonight, where this was mentioned. I just finished watching it before reading this transcript!

Wouldn't have helped me if I had been taping this- just thought it was funny!

Okay, I didn't get this right, but, only because of the little time gave me to work with on Double Dip. Easy enough. I love working with numbers. I went to the inauguration, so the date sticks out.
$12.5K (French):
"Pamplemousse" is the French word for what fruit?
A. Strawberry B. Lemon
C. Grapefruit D. Pineapple
Je parle francais (pardon the accents). Aussi, je habite a Montreal. Tres facile. Ensuite... in the meantime before the PAP exchange, I made fun of it and turned the others into French (Fraises, Limon, and Annannas [sic], respectfully)
$15K (Big Media):
The parent company that owns the online social network MySpace also owns what major TV network?
A. CBS B. NBC
C. ABC D. FOX
Dang. Pop culture. An ATA specialty. I assume they're going FOX here, though.
$25K (Bill Gates)

A. Leonardo da Vinci B. Isaac Newton
C. Blaise Pascal D. Friedrich Nietzsche
I thought it's di Vinci before the choice show up, and it shows up. I'm gambling on that thought, because no-one else seems to make sense. When the thought shows up in the answers, before the answers show up... I'm going for it.

So, I'd be at 50K with ATE (who seems good for all but the Aussie question), google PAP, and DD (which I'd make a point to use).

A very nice save by Joel Stein! I loved his "Well, they're wrong" response. :)

From the way that Renee phrased the question I thought Deb might be a Google PAF. Unfortunately there was missed communication between the two and the PAF call didn't go well.

There was a lot of ink spilled over Rupert Murdoch acquiring MySpace.

A shame. I suspect she went with Newton because of the name of the book.

A total nihil obstatĀ® for me.
