From the comfort of my recliner I was able to reason out the answer to this one. I focused on the word "admirable" and for some reason that seemed to be a word more likely to be used by Churchill than the others. In the HS, however, with nothing more than that to go on, I'd probably have walked away.

Subconsciously remembering that Churchill was First Lord of the Admiralty during WWI and again during WWII before becoming Prime Minister, perhaps?

I was torn between Churchill and Twain. I suppose Twain could have come up with a wittier quote.

This is the first one I didn't know cold. I would have reasoned-out Churchill but probably wouldn't have gone for it.

Yeah, that word "admirable" just screams out Churchill... although Twain was very tempting to pick.

I was stuck between Twain and Churchill...knew it was neither Lennon nor Capote.

The Q:

I had no real clue. It sounded like something Churchill might have said, but it also sounded like Lennon doing a Churchillian parody.

And it might have been anyone else entirely.

I'd have walked too.
