I'd ATA on Ugly Betty-I don't watch the show.

I'd ATE on the math question.

Good grief, another contestant that doesn't know state capitals.

The rest seem pretty easy-missed the show, so I'm catching up with the transcripts.

If the Celebrity questions are all like this I'd not be surprised if the Regis one turns out to be the only one I know for a while.
Glad (due to TDC) that the math was quickly deducible to 280x2
Also glad (also due to the time constraints) that Des Moines sounds close enough to 'the monks' that I didn't really have to go through the other three, although I did.

Thanks for the shout-out, TPTB! 8)

Although, really, you've got to save one of these questions for me, if you want to film a contestant breaking out in genuine, spontaneous laughter!

Thirty seconds was plenty of time to decide that Madison, Springfield and Jefferson City didn't sound like they might be French for "the monks".

I have it on fairly reliable authority that Jefferson was no monk.

I presume this is a typo and Ken said the correct answer of 5280 feet and not 5200 feet since that wouldn't make much sense with the rest of the sentence and would be closer to a different answer?

Not a typo, but I presume it was a slip of the tongue by Ken. He did say "about 5200 feet" and then seemed to have mentally recalled the exact number by the time he got around to doing the multiplication. You're right that it did make his result sound a little odd.

Did Ken not know that there are actually 5280 feet in a mile? He must, because otherwise his math calculation would not make sense.
