Thanks for trying, Bob.

I don't know it so DoItNeatly said just to post it and someone would move it.

Man, that transcribing is tough and much respect to everyone who does it on the regular. I need to learn how to type.

Here are two short articles about Sarah's run.

http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/art ... 1207/GPG01
Larsen, a violinist who is finishing a double major in music history and violin performance at the Hartt School of Music in New Haven, Conn., has yet to see the episodes.

"I've been so busy with classes and stuff ... so I haven't watched any of it yet," she said.
No viewing party with her college friends?

I always thought "pipsqueak" was related to physique, not age or income.

Does anyone know when this episode was taped? I was wondering what might have made people familiar with Cho Oyu -- the sixth highest mountain in the world -- without having to memorize the list of tallest mountains.

Clifton Maloney, the husband of NYC congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, died on September 25, a day after climbing this mountain. If this episode was taped after that day, the question writers must have picked up this question from that story.

If I were one who wagered, I'd bet that the episode was taped afterward - the NYC connection makes it an almost irresistible subject for a question.

I didn't think it was D, since the Sahara and the Gobi are the two main deserts I know. I didn't think it was A, since the Nile and the Amazon are the two main rivers I know. B also seemed unlikely since I don't know of many lakes. However, I can't say that I'd have gone for it in the Hot Seat.

$50,000 *Wild West

C: Dentist D: Veterinarian

For me, this question was a prime example of "the weirdo rule". According to this rule, one answer is so far out in left field that it has to be right. A, B, and D are all types of medical doctors, while C specifically works in the mouth. With a free guess, I'd definitely have gone with C here.

Both of these examples show the reasoning behind why the show has so many thousandaires and llamas...

The college newspaper caught up to this contestant's performance a couple of weeks after the show. She'd make Marley feel old with that statement about liking the show since she was little, so it was a timely posting while Marley is enjoying WDW.
Earlier this month, some of you may have noticed a familiar face from our own University if you were watching Channel 6, Fox 61's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." Sarah Larsen, a 22-year-old violinist from the Hartt School appeared on the show, and left with $25,000.
...
Wisconsin-native Larsen loved the show since she was little, she explains how she got on: "My friend and I were sitting and watching the show last spring, and we're yelling answers at the TV, and he told me to try out, so I did."
...
In order to get on the show, participants must pass a 30 question exam in five minutes, nothing too easy. "I got a perfect score, I was so happy I got on the show! I went down for the interview, and they really liked my personality, and how they could talk to me about anything, and they told me I was on the show," says Larsen.

As opposed to optometrists working specifically on the eyes and podiatrists specifically on the feet? If you're going with a "weirdo rule" I would think the odd man out would be the one that doesn't work on humans.

Also, none of the four are medical doctors. If by "medical doctors", you mean doctors of medicine.

I'm sorry to be posting this 2 years after the fact, but I was at this taping, and there was something that I wanted to share that I never did get to share about it. Sorry if this is a 'common thing' that happened during the old tapings-- I just never had thought of this happening (so nieve haha).

During the taping, Sarah chose to use her phone a friend at the $15K question, as shown in the transcript. However, the first PAF option she chose was Mike, not her Mom. The phone rang 4 times and went to voicemail (which I had never thought could happen before, but again, I was nieve haha). The girl looked crestfallen and the producers came out and talked to her, basically saying that they'd reintroduce the phone a friends as though the clock had just stopped, and that she'd have to choose someone other than Mike (though pretend she had wanted to call them all along). So she chose her Mom... and her Mom came through for her! The audience was pretty stoked for her! I know that this is way old news haha-- I just wanted to put it on the transcript for the record :)
