$50K-I knew this because I actually heard about it on public radio the other day. I was flipping stations and I came across Michigan Public Radio. They were talking about how scientists are worried about bats and "white nose syndrome". It's in the Northeast now, and may be spreading here-we have 3 species of bat that are known to develop this disease. What a concidence to have it come up as a BAM question so soon after I learned this!

I didn't recall reading any stories about White Nose Syndrome, but apparently it started here in Upstate NY. Wikipedia has a good article about it.

Hibernation cycle - that's what it was. I knew it had something to do with their sleeping.

There's new evidence about white nose syndrome that the fungus came from Europe.
