Wicked peeps, or those who like my Mom

Some of you will recall that I took Mom to Chicago last new Year's Day on a surprise trip. We ate at fancy places, walked around in the 16-degree weather, and saw Wicked, and came home that night. Mom took many nice pictures, but the next day, she lost the camera (laid it down at the restaurant where we showed roomie and Dad the pics).
A former coworker who moved to Chicago took some shots for us of The Bean and other things, and I was able to get one of the restaurant managers to send me pics of the theater marquee and of the Wicked Witches' brew drink we had there. Yum. Plus some text stuff I made at work. It all comes together here, in this collage Mom made for me months ago and which I am just now photographing and posting:

The reason I am photographing things is I have made a reading nook in my bedroom, and wanted to show it off to those who consulted on it. But you guys might like it too, and I need the practice fooling with pics and smallisizing them etc., so here it is. The IKEA chair looks wooden and hard, but it has an almost rocker effect. Yum. Chair $89, lamp $15. Next up, a more color-appropriate ottoman so we can get rid of the orange plastic stepstool for the cat.

Can't help but notice the dreary weather outside. At least the cold front has moved through, though, so tomorrow's weather will be fantastic. Perfect weather for extending a winning streak to three (although, considering the opponents involved, is it really worth bragging about?).

The collage looks great! I'm glad you were able to reconstruct and/or re-collect some of the lost pictures of what I recall was a really fun and special trip.

I don't know flickr URLs well enough to be able to tell if you did this or not, but in case you didn't, here goes. When you upload a big picture to flickr and then go to the flickr single image page for that picture, you will see different tabs above the picture for the different sizes that flickr makes automatically. Since it never increases the size, the picture associated with the right-most tab should always be the size of the original you uploaded. Small pictures uploaded may not have any additional versions made. If one of the reduced sizes is closer to the size you want to post here, you can right-click on it to see the properties, and then copy out the URL for pasting/posting here. That's what we did with Wintergreen's wedding photos.

It's hard for me to tell because of the straight-on (non-)angle of the photo, but that looks exactly like the chairs my mom has. If it is, then there are no rear legs, as the side pieces are C-shaped so the legs curve up the front and become the armrests. This makes them a little springy when you first sit down. They are very, very comfortable, and I have found her asleep in hers on many occasions...
What is that collection on your windowsill? They're too thick for hockey pucks. The little bit of white reminds me of those Hostess chocolate cupcakes. Mmmm ... cupcakes!!!11

D'oh! I looked at 'em again, and I think you're absolutely right. They are each paired up front & back and look like they graduate down in size from left to right. Looking at them now, it seems very clear, but I wasn't seeing that before...

Yep, dumbbells. Maybe when I get a bed skirt I will look for a window treatment to cover them up...

Just so. The model is POÄNG. The frame is $60, and then you can spend as little as $29 or a few hundred bucks on the cushion part, depending on the fabric/color.

OK, more pics. But after these more, I'll be done for a while. Whew.
This one is the collage/montage Mom did of our Vegas/L.A. trip in April. Most of the pics are from the Belagio and the Getty Museum. The closeup of the top shows the tranquility garden that was at Bellagio then. The large centerpiece is a photograph of a Chihuly piece that was on sale at his shop there, for $12,000. The owner said we could take a picture. The second closeup includes us at the Terry Fator show, holding one of the puppets.
The final shot shows how the artwork by Mom integrates into my workspace even though I don't have a way to hang it up. The piece on the right is from the American Sports Art Museum in Mobile. I don't care about hockey, but I love that image.

I love how your cubicle is the only interesting cubicle in that office.

It is the cleanest, anyway.
I think the flash made it look better than it is....
