Comic Sacha Baron Cohen announced that he is "retiring" his popular Borat and Ali G characters. Since a good bit of their effectiveness was due to the fact that people didn't know they were a put-on, this makes sense. Anyone who has seen Cohen in filks like Sweeney Todd and Talladega Nights knows he is a gifted comic actor who has the potential for creating a lot of new hilarious characters.
