Wow! When I saw that he used ATA on this question, I really expected it to be one of those classic "90% of the audience says that you should know it" moments. I really expected more than 59% of the audience to have a passing knowledge of sports. It seems like ESPN Sportscenter constantly mentions 2-a-days regarding CFB and the NFL, during the late summer.

In college, I was introduced to the pleasure of three-a-days for the first time.

Do not pick on Hoover (AL) High and Coach Rush!

I somewhat enjoyed the first season. It starting jumping the shark in that second season. (It might have had a 3rd season, but I did not watch if it did.)

Some may recall that Rush Propst came under intense scrutiny for allegedly charnging football players' grades to keep them eligibile, recruiting ineligible players, and for personal indiscretions.

If you watched the pilot episode, then you saw Hoover take on Nease (FL), led by none-other-than Timmy Tebow.

I do not recall if Hoover exactly was poverty-stricken. It is a suburb of Birmingham.

(Looked it up -- 5% poverty for Hoover, while approx. 17% for entire state.)


Drew, you seem to have a bias against high school football. I would hate to see your reaction to a fall Saturday in Lincoln. (Or a winter basketball game at Phog Allen.)

No, the show did not lie. The episodes were filled with kids driving nice cars and girls shopping et al. There were minority students who likely were living around the poverty line (or below), but it seemed no different than many other big high schools.
