Holy shit! The $15,000 was a WWOQ.

Or is this book more popular than I know?

Anyhow, if you know esculent means "edible", then you can get this.

But DAMN!!!

That's just it. It wasn't really a book question. It was a vocabulary question.

This guy was the man... it's a shame he left so early. I would have loved to have seen him in the Tournament of Trash.

I guess Max heard "A" and thought Dick said "Spain". I guess Max is too young to remember Imelda.

I have no idea, so it's time to ATA. They do fairly well with movie questions.

Yeah, Max! Sounds like what I would have said 30 years ago.

Funny coincidence - a month ago I read an article on alternate history that discussed what would have happened if the potato hadn't grown well in Europe.

This I knew, so I'd be going for $50K with three lifelines still available.

Here's an article about Max's appearance. Nothing new here that we didn't already learn from his episodes.

The photo included with the article appears to have been taken when he was in the ROF this summer, rather than while he was in the Hot Seat.

“I did hit on Meredith,” said Nussenbaum. “She responded very well. She seemed really nice.”
She's a cougar. Of course, she responded very well! :P
Nussenbaum, who watched Millionaire in high school with his girlfriend, always joked about auditioning when he turned eighteen. It was not until his sophomore year of college, however, that Nussenbaum actually followed through.
Slacked off for a whole year, eh?
While $15,000 is far more money than he’s ever had before, Nussembaum knows it will dry up quickly as soon as he’s out of college. He is saving most of it, although he has already spent some.

“I’ve already spent almost $400 on alcohol,” said Nussenbaum. “Because when I first got it, remember, I was in New York that night with all of my close friends from home, and they had all come in from the various places they go to school and it was like, okay, now we’re going out to go crazy.”
After partying with a bunch of college friends in NYC, $400 sounds like a cheap bill!

What a surprise. The author of the article doesn't know the difference between PTBAM (FF round) and SyndiBAM (everyone plays):
Nussembaum was invited to participate in the 10th anniversary special of Millionaire. He traveled all the way from his hometown in Massachusetts to the studio in New York City, but never made it past the preliminary Fastest Finger round.

Thinking his millionaire dreams over, Nussenbaum returned home. However, on the third day of classes this semester, he received a call from Millionaire and a second chance to play.
...
This time Nussenbaum fared better, earning a chance in the hot seat.
