What is Santa bringing to your house?

My kids don't come here so it is safe for me, but SC may have to post incognito.

On Christmas morning, our den will have:

Casio WK3300 keyboard with stand and bench. My wife is mad at Santa for getting it, another electronic gadget, and a large one at that, but all 4 kids play the piano and a couple of them are getting bored with it. I think/hope this may motivate them to work harder to get to play this.

Olympus 830 Digital Camera (Green) - More camera than my oldest needs or wanted, but we'll use it as an alternate for the Digital SLR when compactness matters and still get better than snapshot quality.

A cell phone, service and all-u-can-text for daughter number 2 (now 12). With her after school activities we could have given it to her earlier, but then Santa would have to spend for another gift.

DS-Lite, we'll be up to 5 Game Boy units, but its what they want and we have all the games already.

RF remote control helicopter. Hopefully this will last beyond Christmas, but it is one of those at risk toys that could crash and burn on the first day.

Lots of books, a few DVD movies, and music CDs.

Santa is going to help me complete my old Elton John (up through Captain Fantastic) collection by giving me Madman Across the Water, Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player, and Caribou. Oh, and replace my lost Brenda Russel and Basia CDs.

Other than the helicoptor and cell phone, Santa got everything online. The reindeer really appreciate that.

Other than than the keyboard stand and bench, nothing to assemble this year. Santa should be asleep by midnight. Unlike a couple years ago when he brought trampoline and didn't get to bed until 4:30AM.

I thought Annie's little adventure about 2 years ago put you completely off the idea of home trampolines. Or were you overruled in that case?

We have that going both ways. One year, we bought our own gifts, wrapped them and put them under the tree. The surprise was for us to discover what the other one really wanted.

It has worked out well, though. Lots of use, only one bump on the head, so far.

As long as the enclosure was installed before jumping started, and the 1-at-a-time rule is enforced, it should be no problem.

As silly as it may sound, I might spend the night over at my sister's house just so I can see my 4 year old niece's expression Christmas morning. She's kind of a bit dramatic, like her aunt OI, so all video cameras should be rolling that AM.
I'm sure my sister would be using me for things such as "watch-out" duty.

David is getting the book "Encyclopedia Idiotica: History's Worst Decisions and the People Who Made Them", a new watch, an LSU flag for the yard and the electronic Monopoly game (to play with Madeleine).

Madeleine is getting an MP3 player that looks like a Barbie. I think they call it a Barbie girl. Also, a Twister game, some PJ's, a Hannah Montana watch, lots of clothes, a golden retriever WebKinz and a the Harry Potter series.

Samantha is getting a math game for her Leapster, a Rainbow AquaDoodle pad, Dora slippers and PJ's, a travel AquaDoodle, a few clothes, some pink Crocs, and a pink poodle WebKinz.

Olivia is getting a glowworm, 2 baby Einstien DVD's, a pink Build-a-Bear, and a taggie blanket.

And, if she's not careful, my mother in law will be getting a big lump of coal, some rubber dog poop and Exlax brownies.

On a related note, our choir does a SecretSanta thingie. This year I had a Soprano and so I got her a little basket of chamomile tea and some good honey along with a Renee Fleming cd.

A bass had my name. I got a fruitcake. Guess what he's getting next year.

As my family tradition, Santa only brings one big gift for each child and fills the stocking.

Santa was actually asked for a large Gray car that a kid could ride on that could be decorated with stickers and paints. Santa interpreted this to mean a red plasma car and some stickers.

The other child said "Da da da!" which Santa interpreted to mean a LeapFrog Learning Table.

The keyboard is a great idea. My oldest was playing some preprogrammed piano music sped up a bit last night, and Erin was calling it The Wiggles and running around the playroom with Mini-me. They actually all had a blast together in the same room! (Rain Man was in the tub at the time, but he may have joined in the mayhem as well...)

We had Christmas at the shore for TLAF last weekend.

She received two Mary Higgins Clark books, DVDs of three of her favorite movies -- I'll See You in My Dreams, Heaven Knows My Allison and With a Song in My Heart -- and many lottery scratchoff tickets.

She wore out the long-ago recorded VHS tapes of Mr. Allison and With a Song in My Heart, so she was very happy to get the movies.

Also, I am putting together picture collages for her to hang up at the house but they are not quite finished yet.

Boonie is getting DVDs of Forbidden Planet & King Kong -- HIS two favorite movies.

And the entire boxed set of the BBC series As Time Goes By. The story of middle aged lovers finding their way together strikes a particular chord with us.

I am hoping watching the movies takes his mind off impending surgery.

GW is getting a ton of cookbooks, mainly from the Food Network crew, and a Baker's Catalog GC.

Kids are getting various requested items - specific DVD's, articles of clothing, etc. BD has been complaining that she's done a lot of the buying for her own gifts. I may wrap up a new pair of boots individually to put under the tree. We're also giving cash, something both can use at present for different reasons.

No clue what I'm getting, mainly because I have no clue what I want. Let me rephrase that: I have no clue what I want that I'll use to any extent. There is a lot that I want that is within our budget, but having time to use them is the problem. I'd love a Wii and the Zelda game for it, but when would I play it, especially having GW sit behind me and watching for the details I miss? We used to play computer games all the time, spending two or three hours at a time going through Myst and similar stuff. Hasn't happened in a few years because of other higher priority items requiring our attention. Similarly, I'd like the Bose sound-deadening headphones, but other than the rare business trip, I wouldn't use them very much, even for the iPod listening. (Sorry about the lament. Just frustrated with my inability to figure out a gift for myself; almost as frustrated as GW, who keeps asking.)

We loved this show. It's on here every Sunday night at 10, except during pledge weeks. It took forever to wrap up all the loose ends, but the final show was just right. They did a reunion show, several years later (I think), which was like trying to capture the escaped magic. Very good show.

Santa is bringing a Wii for the entire family, plus several games (appaently he got a great package deal. )

The Boy is getting a Reindeer Webkinz, Mario Party 8 for the Wii, and a book on how to draw different Pokemon characters. (Plus, little trinkets in his stocking, like candy, Pokemon cards, Webkinz cards, and toothbrush/toothpaste)

Princess Peanut is getting a Reindeer Webkinz, Webkinz charms, and a snowglobe. (Plus a stocking full of candy, hair bows, fake jewelry, "lip gloss", Webkinz cards, and toothbrush/toothpaste.)

I have little clue what Santa is bringing for Princess Pudding. I am pretty sure that it wil make noise and cause squeals of delight. I also am sure that the box and bows for the present will be more entertaining than the actual present.

As I noted days ago, there also will be a few "early gifts". There will be a new pair of Christmas PJs for all three kids under the tree on Christmas Eve.

Also, this will be the 4th year that Christmas Elves brought small gifts for the kids prior to the arrival of "The Big Guy". The past few days has seen candy and books. On Christmas Eve morning, they will discover that the elves again brought them Build-a-Bear gift cards so that they can make their very own stuffed animal (while preparations are made for my MIL to host Christmas Eve.)
