FloridaGirl did appear on Jenni's PAF list, even if Jenni chose to call someone else. If Jenni had decided that she could not possibly call Liz after her own PAF experience, then she cheated herself out of one active member of her PAF team.

Poetic justice.

Those $10K and $12.5K questions were harder than the average $10K and $12.5K questions.

And was the audience playing games with her? I find it hard to believe that 11% of the audience thought "Colon" would be a way you could say "That's my final answer!"

Anyhow, I would have Double Dipped on the $10 K (knew it wasn't parsnip or chicory- would have said jicama first, but rutabaga was just enough of a distractor for me not to go with it), and PAF on the $12.K (I didn't have a friggin' clue on that one).

Rough stack for me to have to burn a PAF that early.

I inferred the correct answer only because I've heard "jicama" pronounced. I'm pretty sure that parsnips are more like carrots and that rutabagas are Scandinavian, but I wouldn't have been sure that the answer wasn't chicory. --Bob

Funny what is hard for some and not others. Some other one I read today or yesterday was brutal and your dream stack. These two questions were quite simple for me.

Jicama just because I know it's Mexican and quite popular around here.

I learned more about the soleus and the gastrocnemius (that is the correct spelling) than I ever wanted to know when I tore them both last year. Just seeing the words make me flinch.
Screw you guys, I'm going home.

I did not know and was thinking closest to the stomach too so I would have lost as well with the expert LL. ATA would be gone but I doubt helpful if I had it unless they narrow it to two signaling a DD.

There's that damn Quinny answer again.

$12.5K: I would've been in big trouble here. The "gastro-" had me thinking the stomach or somewhere near it. The hip was the closest answer up there. Neck was also a possibility for me, thinking that it might have something to do with the esophagus. Since I've never heard of either of these muscles, I would've asked Mo. Since he would've confirmed my hunch that it would be either hip or neck, I would've Double Dipped and gone down in flames.

Ah, Jenni. We've been expecting you.

Goes to show what different people know.

$10k: "Jicama" is the only Spanish word. At this level, that context clue is enough for me to go for it. (How did Mere pronounce it?)

$12.5k: 7th-grade science. I thought "gastrocnemius" would be a giveaway since that muscle is touted as an important focus center in workouts.

Going for $15k with all lifelines.
In this town, don't we love it now, everbody's waiting for the next surprise!

I know it's a lower-level question, but it's a tailor-made PAF Google.

Why would you gravitate to the ATE lifeline?

I was wondering about that, too. I certainly expected more than 73% to vote for "Period".

Yeah- but the more I think about it, the more I think it was just a somewhat poorly-worded question.

Because the PAF is more valuable at the higher levels.

You can't let that guide your thinking.

You have to figure out which lifeline is best suited to answering the question.

I would not have expected Mo Rocca to know this question. He has no medical background.

Whereas this is a perfect Google PAF question. All you'd need to do is tell your Google PAF to type in two words.

A pity that Mo couldn't come up with this for her. I can understand why "gastro" might mislead, but "stomach" is not a choice.

Not enough for me to risk it.

As I said earlier- tough to have to spend a PAF that early- but on this question, I would have realized PAF would be more reliable than ATE.

I thought the wording on the punctuation question and the movie title question were both very odd!

And then the muscle question seemed really obscure. It seems like the writers went out of their way to make this stack more difficult than many of the recent ones! :?
