$12.5K: Not familiar with these names. I can't get anything out of their initials, either. ATA.

You're not being too helpful today, audience. Looks like I'll have to use DD. First D, then C.

Hmmm. Did the question writers come up with this question before the summer's news or after it?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_&_Hawken
Smith & Hawken was an upscale garden retail outlet with 56 stores in the United States. On July 10, 2009, it was announced that all Smith & Hawken stores would cease operation. Smith & Hawken stores were located in upscale retail locations in 22 states.

I found this list of Smith & Hawken's upscale locations. There were a handful in the greater NYC area, but it's a good bet that most of the audience never shopped at one. As it was, this was a good example of needing to pay particular attention to a significant #2 spike in the ATA results. The only question I have is why sports equipment was such a popular distractor.

So undoubtedly she needs the money to pay off her student loans.

Once again, from the safety of my cubicle I guessed the right answer, but in the Hot Seat it would have been time to go with ATA. And once again I face the dilemma of "second strong answer correct" or use another lifeline.

Good for her! She seems like she will do well even without the other lifeline.

Here's a pre-airing article about Annaka.

http://www2.staffordcountysun.com/scs/n ... eat/43870/
Crystal Begley accompanied her daughter and sat in the audience during the “Millionaire” shows, which are taped.

Nava said she was playing in the “hot seat” for her mom, who missed her own shot at game show fame 20 years ago when she was ready to head to a game show studio, but her babysitter cancelled, last minute, according to a press release from the show.
Well, that's a hook we haven't heard before!
Annaka Nava also has 6-year-old twins, Jonas and Alexandra.

The twins helped their mom prepare for the show, quizzing her on Disney movies and the Jonas brothers before bedtime. She’d quiz them in return.
The Jonas Brothers? Too bad they didn't help Richard Meissner!

$12.5 K-never heard of Smith and Hawken. ATA and hope it's a regional (NY-NJ) chain.

It actually is...or was...a California-based business that had been bought out, and now has been shut down, by Scott's.

My wife's into garden stuff- only reason I'd ever heard of this.

"Second strong ATA answer is the real answer" in effect again.

Has anyone done the stats to find out if that happens often enough to take a risk guessing at that point?

My wife is a big Smith and Hawken fan -- there used to be a store a few miles from our home, and we have a few S&H vases in our abode.

This has to be a dream question for the Mrs. :)
