According to his blog, Ken declined an offer to fly to NYC to appear on Fox and Friends, so I guess this isn't the beginning of his move into politics.

If one wants civilility and tolernace, one should avoid calling Mike Huckabee Huck.

I like Ken Jennings, from what i know of him, but it would be good if he tried to avoid politics, based on how poorly he constructs his arguments.

I really was surprised by what he said in this piece.

OK, either Ken is being disingenuous or he is not up on his religious beliefs. Although to call Jesus and Satan "brothers" isn't exactly correct, they are termed "spirit brothers" by no less an authority than Spencer W. Kimbell, 12th Mormon Prophet. He said:

“Long before you were born, a program was developed by your creators. The principal personalities in this great drama were a Father Elohim, perfect in wisdom, judgment, and person, and two sons, Lucifer and Jehovah."

As with ex cathedra pronouncements by the Pope, teachings of the Prophets are considered orthodox doctrine.

Now this has nothing to do with whether a Mormon is fit to be president of the US - I suspect that anyone with a critical eye could examine any of the tenets of the faith (Christian, Muslim, otherwise) and find things like this. Huckabee was undoubtedly trying to stir the religious right up by asking this question, but for Romney (or Jennings) to deny it is not right, either.

I am curious why you would attribute such Machiavellian intent to a question that the writer himself called something like "innocent " and "honest"?

Of course, as with every candidate at this time, thre are many, many reasons to not vote for Romney, beyond his religion.

One can say things in "an innocent voice" but have malice in one's heart. Huckabee may have been a former Southern Baptist minister but he is now a politician, and I always suspect such individuals (politicians) of ulterior motives. There was no reason for Huckabee to ask that question unless it was to make sure that people heard about that belief. And the only people to whom that would matter would be evangelicals, upon whom Huckabee is relying for support. I liken it to Clinton's staffer's mention about Obama's previous drug use. It's a way of keeping a hot button issue in the public eye without seeming to make a big deal of it.

True, and I would argue that whatever Romney may believe as a Mormon, it is only tangentially relevant to his qualifications to be president, or his stands on critical issues such as the economy.

I agree that Ken's tone was less than civil, but we Huckabee supporters also call him Huck. As in a fundraising effort "A Buck for Huck"

The famous Chuck Norris commercial is called HuckChuckFacts.
