Her somewhat reasonable use of logic on the $25,000 question is the reason I'm giving her a pass of using two lifelines on a lower-level question (albeit not SO easy) the answer of which she was leaning towards.

Although Ali is a complete waste of space. As I wrote in my spoiler thread, she obviously has learned ZIP about his world. Unbelievable that she did not know this.

Although she got the colors for the Burmese (Saffron) and Ukrainian (Orange) Revolutions as her two choices (originally thought the Ukraine was the Saffron Revolution, but the two Russian state revolutions were Orange and Rose (Georgia)).

I can understand her using a lifeline on the Heloise question. I paused the DVR for a couple of seconds while watching because I had a "Huh?" reaction, too, but it finally clicked. With the pressure of the clock, I totally get it.

(Also, it's nice to see that the first five questions continue have a slightly higher difficulty level with the higher money. They're still not exactly Jeopardy! Triple Stumpers, but they've clearly been elevated a tad bit.)

If TPTB insist on keeping TDC, then the time limit for the first 5 questions now has got to go up to 20 seconds or more.

On the 50K question I would have pulled a "Charles Ingram" because King Lear is the only play of the 4 I haven't read and I didn't recognize that line in the other three so since I haven't heard of it and never read that play I would have had it.

I am glad though to see I'm not the only one to notice that the questions did get harder somewhat. Especially on the first 5. They aren't necessarily difficult, but they do make me stop a second to reread the question which with TDC makes it difficult.

I agree that while the first five are not exactly stumpers (they're still fairly easy), they probably are hard enough now that an extra 5 seconds on the clock would be nice.

As Stephanie herself said, on the Heloise question, even if you didn't know it, "H" is the only answer than made sense of the four choices.

But try figuring that out with TDC ticking away.

That is EXACTLY how I got it- I've never read King Lear, but have read the other three.

The phrase didn't ring a bell, so I figured it had to be the one play of the four I hadn't read.

I intuited the $25K in the exact manner she did. I must have missed the story of the inscription on Lincoln's watch when it came out.

I lose on the Shakespeare question. Hamlet is the only one I know well enough to pick up line by line quotes. I would have guessed a relatively comic context, of avoiding that which one genuinely is not, but as it turns out, may well refer at least in part to the certain destruction a heavy layer of gold would mean to a tiny butterfly.

I guessed King Lear or Hamlet, since it sounds like something a crazy lady might say, or something someone might say about a crazy lady, and those plays feature crazy ladies.

Iranian revolution - I knew it wasn't orange but I thought it was yellow. Green is the color of Islam so that makes sense.

Heloise question threw me too.

Ali Wentworth is married to George Stephanopoulos? My respect for George just went down a few notches.

Agreed. I found myself initially thinking along the lines of "H. Eloise Bowles". Under the gun, I might not have switched to "Heloise" quickly enough and thus I may have bought time just like Stephanie did. (her willingness to make an educated guess for $25k makes me pretty sure that the ATA was just a clock stopping move)

Definitely a much better player than her predecessor!
