Lyrically Speaking 12-20-07

It's time to jump on into the DeLorean and set the date, not for 1955, but to the Beast's favorite decade, it's 1985.

LS #14……………………………….1985

Good Luck & Have Fun!

1. What you gonna do when things go wrong?
What you gonna do when it all cracks up?
What you gonna do when the love burns down?
What you gonna do when the flames go up?
Who is gonna come and turn the tide?
What's it gonna take to make a dream survive?
Who's got the touch to calm the storm inside?
Who's gonna save you?

2. I see you through the smoky air
Can`t you feel the weight of my stare
You`re so close but still a world away
What I`m dying to say, is that

3. Well, the bride looks a picture
In the gown that her mama wore
When she was married herself
Nearly twenty-seven years before

4. Sometimes it's like someone took a knife baby
edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
through the middle of my soul

5. A Salvation Army band played
And the children drank lemonade
And the morning lasted all day,
All day
And through an open window came
Like Sinatra in a younger day,
Pushing the town away

6. My friends know what's in store
I won't be here anymore
I've packed my bags
I've cleaned the floor
Watch me walking
Walking out the door

7. Sometimes I think life is just a rodeo,
The trick is to ride and make it to the bell.
But there is a place, sweet as you will ever know,
In music and love, and things you never tell.
You see it in their face, secrets on the telephone,
A time out of time, for you and no one else.

8. You don't need money, don't take fame
Don't need no credit card, to ride this trail
It’s strong and it’s sudden and it’s cruel sometimes
But it might juct save your life

9. I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand

10. Jackie, hey, what you doing now
It seems like yesterday
When we were working out
Jackie, you set the world on fire
You came and gifted us
Your love it lifted us Higher and higher

Bonus: God, what a mess, on the ladder of success
Where you take one step and miss the whole first rung
Dreams unfulfilled, graduate unskilled
It beats pickin' cotton and waitin' to be forgotten

Who is gonna come and turn the tide?
What's it gonna take to make a dream survive?

Alive and Kicking, Simple Minds with the great voice of Jim Kerr

2. I see you through the smoky air
Can`t you feel the weight of my stare
You`re so close but still a world away
What I`m dying to say, is that

Crazy For You, Madonna. Not one of her better from that era...

3. Well, the bride looks a picture
In the gown that her mama wore
When she was married herself
Nearly twenty-seven years before

Oh, a sympathy gimme here, huh? :P

I Knew the Bride, Nick Lowe. Dragged out the wedding video the other night. Catholics sure can drag out a wedding ceremony, especially when you have two priests and a monk officiating. Ye, gads!

The reception was a blast, though...

4. Sometimes it's like someone took a knife baby
edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
through the middle of my soul

Nope. Kinda emo-looking...

5. A Salvation Army band played
And the children drank lemonade
And the morning lasted all day,
All day
And through an open window came
Like Sinatra in a younger day,
Pushing the town away

Life in a Northern Town, and this has been on 60 million LS's and I can't think of the group, again! I should know this....

6. My friends know what's in store
I won't be here anymore
I've packed my bags
I've cleaned the floor
Watch me walking
Walking out the door

Would I Lie to You? The Eurythmics

7. Sometimes I think life is just a rodeo,
The trick is to ride and make it to the bell.
But there is a place, sweet as you will ever know,
In music and love, and things you never tell.
You see it in their face, secrets on the telephone,
A time out of time, for you and no one else.

VERY familiar, but nope...

8. You don't need money, don't take fame
Don't need no credit card, to ride this trail
It’s strong and it’s sudden and it’s cruel sometimes
But it might juct save your life

Can't get through the 80's without Huey! Power of Love, Huey Lewis and the News

9. I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand

People are People, Depeche Mode. The sound isn't standing up over time, to me...

10. Jackie, hey, what you doing now
It seems like yesterday
When we were working out
Jackie, you set the world on fire
You came and gifted us
Your love it lifted us Higher and higher

On the Night Shift, and I can't remember once again!

Bonus: God, what a mess, on the ladder of success
Where you take one step and miss the whole first rung
Dreams unfulfilled, graduate unskilled

No, but I bet I'd love it!

The answers & scoring for this game seem to have been lost in outspace, that's what you get for working on these things on two different computers.

I'll look for it tomorrow and post it then.
