A repeat auditioner is getting into the Hot Seat

#1 Post by MarleysGh0st » Tue Sep 01, 2009 9:31 am

According to this blog entry, he's taping October 1:

The blogger calls himself "the Tuesday Night Trivia Maven at Professor Thom's in Greenwich Village." I suspect some of our NYC BBs know him.

I know of Prof. Thom but I don't go there for two reasons A) It's a Red Sox fan hangout B) They don't let you play trivia unless you're 21...

Uh-oh, he's a WE/WE:

A week later, I was on the set of "The Bounty" filming my extra role, when I checked my cell phone for messages. There was one from a producer of the show, informing me that I was chosen to be a contestant for a future "Millionaire" episode.

Well, this blogger taped yesterday and he's posted a report on his blog which is a complete spoiler.

Even the link is a spoiler, so I'll put it in a spoiler tag.

His first blog entry implied that he took the test many times but passed only a few times. I'm not totally surprised at the outcome.

At least he's out only subway fare.

If he's telling the truth, it's a good thing he didn't win anything because TPTB would be pissed at the spoilerage.

I'm wondering if they'll be pissed enough to not even air his Hot Seat run, now.

Hi everyone

I'm the guy who posted on my blog about my appearance on the show yesterday. Sorry if I spoiled anything, but I figured I'd let all those folks who supported me know right away how I did.
Spoiler
(Of course, if I had been a money winner, I would had to have kept it a closely guarded secret.) Overall I enjoyed the experience very much. Meredith Vieira is a really sweet person and I really enjoyed chatting with her. The behind the scenes staff are really incredible. They did everything to make it a great experience to be a part of.

I wish it could have turned out better for me, but I'm glad I had my chance, and it was my only one, as there are no repeat contestants (except for special shows). Since the first night I saw the show in 1999, I wanted to know what it was like to sit in the Hot Seat and be on the show. It is to say the least a nerve racking experience, the complete opposite of watching it from your couch at home.

I also wish everyone there at the show all the best. They do a really incredible job with the show. If you ever want to take your chance on the show, I say go for it.

You never know what will happen.

And thanks for checking my site as well. All the best to you all.

Thank you Marley. I'm sure there are folks out there who've been through the show just like I have. It's tough looking back on it in the way it turned out right now, but I'm sure in the future I will look back on it differently.

Nothing ventured in this life, nothing gained.

Oh, yeah, I see that's when you registered on the Bored! :)

I noticed after I first posted I was going on the show that you set up a thread about it, as my SiteMeter numbers on my site went way up. (And I thank you for that!) I have been here a few times. I registered but didn't post anything. It's a good message board about the show, and I especially liked the wrapups of all the past shows. Nice job guys!

Welcome to the Bored, OmnipotentQ! I didn't realize you read the Bored. The rest is in spoilers in case otheres reading this thread haven't gone to your blog yet.

I really was being serious- I'm not certain how happy the folks at Millionaire are going to be that you spoiled the outcome of your taping. I don't think it matters to them that you won nothing- a result is a result.

I truly hope they don't pull your show off the broadcast schedule because you did this.

The one bad thing about Millionaire is that everything boils down to one question. No matter how much you know or how many things you know, one question can doom you, as Ken Basin and I (at very different levels) know quite well. One thing you will definitely learn if you stay on this Bored is that you've got a lot of company, in more ways than one. Hope to see you around in the future.

I will be checking here in the future. I don't plan to watch the show for a while, as it will be just too painful to watch others in The Hot Seat winning money. But I have to say that the show wrapups contain the show's Q&A, which is always a great source for my Trivia Night I host!

Welcome to the board, Q. I'm sorry you didn't find a better outcome for the BAM adventure.

Many of the games played here also might be good sources for trivia questions for the events you host.

Well then, someone should warn you.

Some people here like using multiple screen names, for comedic purposes. We call these extra screen names "Merry Men". One of these MM is MyBigFatFabulousBrain. His specialty is responding to the transcript threads with the most brutal, sarcastic commentary imaginable. This can catch some people by surprise, but keep in mind that it's all satire.

And he has been known to go easier on contestants who post here. Unless those contestants specifically ask him not to go easy on them, that is!
