Is this someone I'm supposed to know who she is? I know I could Google her, but before I do, I was wondering if she's worth it.

I went ahead and googled.

Jamie Lyn, you probably didn't hear of.

Her sister, more likely...

Zooey 101 on Nickelodeon

On December 18, 2007, it was announced that an article in OK! Magazine to be released on December 19, 2007 would reveal that Jamie Lynn is pregnant and is keeping the baby. She and her mother spoke to the magazine in an exclusive interview. The father is said to be Casey Aldridge whom she met in church Nickelodeon, the network which carries Spears' series Zoey 101, issued the following statement shortly after the announcement:
"We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being."

Yes younger (by ~9years) sister of Britney. Because of the Miley Cyrus pregnancy hoax, I'll believe this when it is really confirmed.

Emma told me that she was pregnant and I didn't believe her.

Way to ruin your life Jamie.

A baby won't "ruin" her life. She might not accomplish the same things she would have other wise, but that is not ruin. She probably already has enough money to live better than most people. Now, its possible that the baby is a symptom of other things that might shipwreck her, just as its not the babies that are the cause of Britney's troubles.

Re reading this out of context could stir things up.

Not all that surprising. Consider the family role models.

I know a local family with a similar scenario: Mom starting early, with older sister pregnant in high school (and Mom mad about it), then younger sister also pregnant in high school (and Mom mad about it). At least the mom in this case got married afterwards. The kids, AFAIK, did not. The father for the younger sister's kid is intelligent, but has totally screwed himself up and is wasting his smarts entirely, besides ignoring his child and his former girlfriend.

Under the heading "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" we have a friend who had her first child, a daughter, at age 17, unmarried (although she later did get married, but not to the father of her child). That marriage ended in divorce, she remarried and had another child, a son. Both the daughter and son have committed parenthood without the benefit of marriage. Neither should have - the daughter's daughter is now in foster care; the son's son is with the mother but she isn't interested in marriage or in having anything to do with the father. Of course that will change when the state mandates he pay child support, which will be difficult considering he can't keep a job.

One of my mom's friends had a baby, out of wedlock about sixteen years ago. The father was never in the child's life. The child, now, 16, just had a baby. (Neither she nor the father have high school diplomas, though the father, who can legally drink, recently got a GED.)

My mom's friend told her daughter that she must finish high school and she should marry the baby's father. Her daughter's response, "well, I don't want to get married, I am just not into him."

Five generation of women are all now living together in the same house. The baby will be taken care of, but I can see this cycle repeating itself in about sixteen years.

I wonder if she was in the abstinence-only sex education program?

I am guessing that she was tutored on set.

(I am not sure if PCA ever had a sex ed class on Zoey 101.)

There will be parents who are upset that they now have to explain things to their young children.

There will be parents who will now have an opening to have a conversation with their teenagers about safe sex and choices.

There will be people fired, people who lose jobs and people who get jobs.

Life will go on.

Thank you. I tend to get a little ticked off & take comments like that personally, so I've been trying to sit out these particular threads.

My life was not "ruined." My life was most certainly "different." But that is not ruin.

I'm working and can't go into anything in depth, but may try later, if I can keep my temper.

I would love to hear what it was like for you, assuming you had a child at that age.

I would love to hear what you saw as your choices and what had you choose what you chose.

I also would love to hear how your life is richer from your choices.

I was stunned to hear it.

not.

Nothing in this world makes my (unmarried) son happier than his nearly one-year-old. I hope Jamie Lynn finds the same joy with her little one.

I meant this definition of ruin: downfall: failure that results in a loss of position or reputation

I personally feel that her reputation is compromised. She'd been doing press saying that she doesn't have have a serious boyfriend and was trying to present a sqeaky clean image, probably in an attempt to distance herself from her trainwreck of a sister.

http://tinyurl.com/2kjnnm

Now all of a sudden, the father is a longtime boyfriend that she met at church. So, is she a liar?

The kids who watch Zoey 101 all are going to find out that Jamie is pregnant. Emma knew before I did. I consider myself pretty liberal about things but I think that having a pregnant teenager actor on a children's TV show sets a bad example.

Not all pregnant teenagers are going to have the same financial resources that Jamie will have and I think that to some girls, her pregnancy and the press that will follow her around will "glamorize" unwed teenage motherhood. I am pretty sure that if she were working for Disney, she would be quietly let go, but it will be interesting to see what Nickelodeon does.

I am sorry if I offended anyone with my point of view and I don't mean to paint all teenage mothers with the same brush.

By the way, I heard that her mother Lynn's book on family values has been delayed indefinitely.

Loretta Lynn was pregnant at 14 and a grandmother at 28. But, she did have a modicum of talent to ensure the well-being of said offspring.
