I went ahead and googled.Ritterskoop wrote:Is this someone I'm supposed to know who she is? I know I could Google her, but before I do, I was wondering if she's worth it.
A baby won't "ruin" her life. She might not accomplish the same things she would have other wise, but that is not ruin. She probably already has enough money to live better than most people. Now, its possible that the baby is a symptom of other things that might shipwreck her, just as its not the babies that are the cause of Britney's troubles.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote: Way to ruin your life Jamie.

Under the heading "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" we have a friend who had her first child, a daughter, at age 17, unmarried (although she later did get married, but not to the father of her child). That marriage ended in divorce, she remarried and had another child, a son. Both the daughter and son have committed parenthood without the benefit of marriage. Neither should have - the daughter's daughter is now in foster care; the son's son is with the mother but she isn't interested in marriage or in having anything to do with the father. Of course that will change when the state mandates he pay child support, which will be difficult considering he can't keep a job.gsabc wrote:Not all that surprising. Consider the family role models.
I know a local family with a similar scenario: Mom starting early, with older sister pregnant in high school (and Mom mad about it), then younger sister also pregnant in high school (and Mom mad about it). At least the mom in this case got married afterwards. The kids, AFAIK, did not. The father for the younger sister's kid is intelligent, but has totally screwed himself up and is wasting his smarts entirely, besides ignoring his child and his former girlfriend.
You are right.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:Re reading this out of context could stir things up.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:Emma told me that she was pregnant and I didn't believe her.
One of my mom's friends had a baby, out of wedlock about sixteen years ago. The father was never in the child's life. The child, now, 16, just had a baby. (Neither she nor the father have high school diplomas, though the father, who can legally drink, recently got a GED.)gsabc wrote:Not all that surprising. Consider the family role models.

I am guessing that she was tutored on set.dimmzy wrote:I wonder if she was in the abstinence-only sex education program?
Thank you. I tend to get a little ticked off & take comments like that personally, so I've been trying to sit out these particular threads.A baby won't "ruin" her life. She might not accomplish the same things she would have other wise, but that is not ruin.
I would love to hear what it was like for you, assuming you had a child at that age.VAdame wrote:Thank you. My life was not "ruined." My life was most certainly "different." But that is not ruin.
I'm working and can't go into anything in depth, but may try later, if I can keep my temper.
