....a day late. He was 90 on Dec. 16, at his home in Sri Lanka.

Years ago, I got to interview him. He was brilliant, sweet, funny and wonderful in every way. He remains one of the more memorable people I've ever met.

I hope he has many more years on the planet.

Every time I read or hear about violence in Sri Lanka I worry for him.
