Or is it Trekker? I can’t remember the politically correct term.
Are you like me? If you’re flipping channels and come across William Shatner counting down the 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders are you compelled to sit down and watch, no matter where you came in or how many times you’ve seen it before? No? You’re not like me? Well, you’re going to be at a disadvantage then, aren’t you?
I don’t want to hear about what constitutes a OHW, or how some group actually had another song that hit #93 on the Hip Hot Hits of Bangladesh chart. These are all directly from the show so, if you’re got a beef, take it up with Shatner. Ha!
Okay, I’ll give you the artist, you give me the song (I read this over 6 times to make sure I wrote it out correctly).
1. Starland Vocal Band
2. Musical Youth
3. Falco
4. Brownsville Station
5. Norman Greenbaum
QOD: Jimi Hendrix, a One Hit Wonder? He only made the (U.S) Top 40 once, and it was a cover at that. What was the song?
5 Point Bonus: Who wrote and originally recorded it?
5 Point Bonus Bonus: Sadly, I could not use my man Tone-Loc here, because he had TWO hits! They were both co-written by this man, a OHW himself (so he did better for Tone than he did for himself. Ha!)

1. Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight
2. Musical Youth - !@#$% I forget!
3. Falco - Rock Me Amadeus
4. Brownsville Station - Smokin' in the Boys' Room
5. Norman Greenbaum - Spirit in the Sky (a song I hate with the fire of a hundred nuns! I'll try to be brief: Jesus had a word for people who claimed to had "never been a sinner; never sinned." I believe it was "hypocrite." Hate!!!!)
QOD: Jimi Hendrix, a One Hit Wonder? He only made the (U.S) Top 40 once, and it was a cover at that. What was the song?
Hey Joe?
5 Point Bonus: Who wrote and originally recorded it?
Don't remember.
5 Point Bonus Bonus: Sadly, I could not use my man Tone-Loc here, because he had TWO hits! They were both co-written by this man, a OHW himself (so he did better for Tone than he did for himself. Ha!)

1. Starland Vocal Band = Afternoon Delight (they even got a TV show out of that)
2. Musical Youth = NAC (never heard of them)
3. Falco = NAC (never heard of them)
4. Brownsville Station = NAC (remember the name, but still NAC)
5. Norman Greenbaum = Spirit in the Sky (had a second, minor hit about 'When You Gonna Buy Me a Canned Ham?')
QOD: Jimi Hendrix, a One Hit Wonder? He only made the (U.S) Top 40 once, and it was a cover at that. What was the song? Hmm, a cover... I will risk all on All Along the Watchtower (the only Hendrix 45 I ever bought)
5 Point Bonus: Who wrote and originally recorded it? Robert Zimmerman
5 Point Bonus Bonus: Sadly, I could not use my man Tone-Loc here, because he had TWO hits! They were both co-written by this man, a OHW himself (so he did better for Tone than he did for himself. Ha!)
Edited to do the spoiler thingie-- I hit 'Submit' when I meant to do 'Spoiler' (hey, both start with 'S,' both have two syllables, I was close...)

You read it 6 times to make sure you wrote it right...I read it 6 times to make sure I didn't $&#( up and answer what you weren't asking again.
1. Subject of one of my favorite "Arrested Development" episodes (not that that's saying much...almost ALL of them are "one of my favorites!). "Afternoon Delight"
2. "Pass the Dutchie" (yecch)
3. "Rock Me Amadeus"
4. "Smokin' in the Boy's Room" (I actually prefer Crue's version)
5. "Spirit in the Sky" (I could never get over the fact that a guy named Greenbaum would sing a line about "I've got a friend in Jesus")
QOD: Taking a big chance here, since it COULD be "Hey Joe", but I don't think so. Gotta be "All Along the Watchtower," only because of the Bonus question (I have no idea who originally did "Hey Joe," I only know it was a cover)
Bonus: Bob "Wow, Cate Blanchett Could Win an Oscar for Playing Me" Dylan
Bonus Bonus: He may be "your man," but he ain't mine. I do know the songs, though, but that's not worth bupkis.

Trekker, according to the best Captain in the history of Star Trek -- JeanLuc Picard...
I fixed it in the subject line for you.
No, I'm pretty much never compelled to watch Shatner doing anything. I will tolerate him on Boston Legal but breathe a sigh of relief whenever the scene switches away from him.
1. Starland Vocal Band -- Afternoon Delight

I was all set to give a big fat nope on this, based on the header. Imagine my surprise!
1. Afternoon Delight
2. Pass the Dutchie
3. Rock Me Amadeus
4. Smokin' in the Boys Room
5. Spirit in the Sky
QoD
Unfortunately, I do not know this.
Bonus #1 - Nope on this too
Bonus #2 - THIS I know! It was Young MC who co-wrote both Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina. His one hit was Bust A Move, although he had a very minor hit in Principal's Office, which I own on 45. I know, way too much information, but when you know as little as I do about most things, it's important to trumpet what actually is in my brain!

READY TO ROCK THE ONE HIT WONDERS.
1. Starland Vocal Band
AFTERNOON DELIGHT
2. Musical Youth
PASS THE DUTCHIE
3. Falco
I'M NOT TRYING TO BE A PAIN IN YOUR BUTT. I SWEAR. I KNOW 2 FALCO SONGS, AND I'M NOT SURE WHICH ONE YOU'RE LOOKING FOR HERE. I GUESS DER KOMMISSAR WAS PROBABLY ONLY A HIT IN THE ENGLISH-LANGUAGE VERSION, WHICH WAS BY AFTER THE FIRE, SO THEN IT'S ROCK ME AMADEUS.
DER KOMISSAR FELT LIKE A HIT TO ME BECAUSE IT WAS ON MTV EVERY TEN SECONDS.
4. Brownsville Station
SMOKIN' IN THE BOYS ROOM (LATER COVERED BY MOTLEY CRUE)
5. Norman Greenbaum
SPIRIT IN THE SKY (LATER COVERED BY DOCTOR AND THE MEDICS)
QOD: Jimi Hendrix, a One Hit Wonder? He only made the (U.S) Top 40 once, and it was a cover at that. What was the song?
THE ONLY BIG HENDRIX COVER I CAN THINK OF IS ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER. I HOPE IT'S RIGHT BECAUSE I'M RISKING A LOT OF POINTS.
5 Point Bonus: Who wrote and originally recorded it?
BOB DYLAN
5 Point Bonus Bonus: Sadly, I could not use my man Tone-Loc here, because he had TWO hits! They were both co-written by this man, a OHW himself (so he did better for Tone than he did for himself. Ha!)
YOU WANT THE GUY WHO WROTE THEM, RIGHT? I HAVE NO IDEA. IF YOU WANT THE SONGS, IT'S FUNKY COLD MEDINA AND WILD THING

The preferred term is Trekker. Trekkie is derisive.
And since none of these questions are actually about Star Trek, I will claim false advertising and search for the Airing of Grievances thread.

<--- Emoticon carefully added, because methinks Fannie has difficulty noticing when a gh0st has tongue in cheek.

I hadn't dropped out of the QoD... I just ran into a string of questions I could only answer 1 or fewer parts of. Now we're more in my wheelhouse again....
1. Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight (I really like this song. I know that puts me in the minority....)
2. Musical Youth - Pass the Dutchie (Or however that's spelled. This title was corrupted around here to the Busch Stadium chant "So Taguchi down the left field line")
3. Falco - Rock Me Amadeus (If he'd have done a better version of "Der Kommissar" like After the Fire did, he might have had another hit...)
4. Brownsville Station - Smokin' in the Boys Room (This one just never sounded right since I didn't hear it until the 90's, and I already had Motley Crue's version in my head. The video for that latter version has to be one of the all time greatest....)
5. Norman Greenbaum - Spirit in the Sky
Why couldn't we have had a longer list, like maybe 100, so I could rack up more points?
QOD: Jimi Hendrix, a One Hit Wonder? He only made the (U.S) Top 40 once, and it was a cover at that. What was the song?
5 Point Bonus: Who wrote and originally recorded it?
5 Point Bonus Bonus: Sadly, I could not use my man Tone-Loc here, because he had TWO hits! They were both co-written by this man, a OHW himself (so he did better for Tone than he did for himself. Ha!) - I have no idea who'd be writing for Tone Loc, but whoever did the music should have at least made the two songs sound just a little bit different. I'll guess another OHW from the old school rap scene... Young MC
