How is this Bored different from all other Boreds? :)

Seriously, is Jeff (15QA) the host of this site? I have no objection--in fact, I whole-heartedly support the effort--but I wonder about the secrecy.

It differs in that it is ours,, tied to a domain that one of us controls, so we know it won't vanish without notice.

No, it isn't on Jeff's site, much as his offer is appreciated. Given how scattered we are, this was initiated prior to my being fully aware of his offer. Since I sort of volunteered to be the bridge between the lost tribes of WWTBAM, I wasn't able to establish a dialog with him prior ro this one being set up.

As for who did set this up, he didn't want a big announcement, but doesn't mind people knowing. If you really want to know, drop me an e-mail.

As soon as I figure out how to find them, I'll create one!

Uly, are you around a week from today? There is about a 60% chance that I'll be out your way. I'll be working in an office that is about six blocks from LAX. Let me know and maybe we can get together one of the evenings that I'm there.

At the top of the page is a series of links. Click on the "Profile" link. That should display a page showing your Registration Information, Profile Information...and at the bottom there's an "Avatar control panel". This site doesn't have a gallery of Avatars, yet, but you can upload any image from your own PC or from the web to use as your avatar, within the size limits specified.

I'm getting dizzy from going in circles.

My avatar wouldn't load and I can't move the emoticons.

When I tried to load an avatar from my computer, I got a message saying "The avatar must be less than 200 pixels wide and 200 pixels high." That's smaller than the other boards permitted. (I think. If not, someone will correct me quickly.)

So, save your avatar to your computer and make it smaller, perhaps. Or beg the site administrator to enlarge the permissable size.

For emoticons, just double-click on the images on the left side of the "post a reply" form.

Is your avatar too big?

From the Avatar control panel:
Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 200 pixels, the height no greater than 200 pixels, and the file size no more than 100 KB.

(And I don't know if the configuration for this board has those figures correct--you might try something smaller, if you still can't get it to work.)

What do you mean about moving the emoticons? :?:

Annie tried to register. She checked the box indicating that she was under 13 years of age, as she does not lie. (She is not that kind of girl.) Promptly, an e-mail came to her own address saying that she had to have permission from her parent or guardian, which could be mailed or faxed...but both the mail address and the fax number spaces were blank. Therefore, I could not help her with the proper response.

If the WWTBAM Bored administrator sees this post, I hereby give my permission for Annie to hang out here from time to time. She is mature for her age. I attest that I am her parent, guardian, and best buddy.

Whether the administrator wishes to give approval is strictly up to the administrator.

I believe she should be permitted to answer that question in dog years.
