Good news for gushunters

If my predictions are close, we should come up on #25000 sometime between Christmas and New Year's.
For some of us, at least, that means a lot more available computer time.
Of course, my predictions are right about as often as the local weather person, which is to say, not very often.
He truly cracks me up. He has this promotion that he calls "the three degree guarantee." (This may be a nationwide Fox thing, I dunno.) He picks the high temperature for the next day, then "guarantees" he will be within three degrees of it. No consequences if he's wrong, they just like to brag about his percentage of accuracy, using the "three degree" guarantee.
I put "three degree" in quotes that time, because it's really a 7 degree guarantee. Tomorrow he's predicting a high temp of, say, 45 degrees. So if it's 48, he's right. If it's 42, he'a also right. So he has seven chances to be right every time he makes the pick.
Needless to say, his station's not where I turn for important weather information. Especially since his "accuracy percentage" is only around 80%. I think I could do that well by observing the sunset the night before.

You don't get the day refunded if he's wrong?

We had a similar promo several years back, but not on Fox. At least our guy offered a T-shirt promoting the station if he was wrong. Mail-in entries of some sort, IIRC. No idea how many times they had to give out the shirts.

So our guy said 73 yesterday, and it was 78. What would I get? A refund on the extra 2 degrees? I LIKED them!
That is one of the dumber things I've heard of, and you know I've heard of dumb things. As a matter of fact, I actively seek them out....

The local sports talk radio station (read: immature men talk about women, sports, women, movies, women, booze, women, sports and women) has a slogan: "Breaking sports news first, guaranteed". I have wondered what I need to do if I learn breaking sports news somewhere else. Do I fill out a form? And if I don't hear it on their station first, what do I get? Does the news get retracted? Do trades get canceled? Do injured players have miraculous cures?

Speaking of bad weather predictions, we're not getting anything close to those five to nine inches they were calling for this morning...
