LS #8……………………………………..1987
I got the feeling that there was some yearning for some more 80’s from one of our participants, so I thought we’d go back to the mid-eightes for some hits and also-rans.
“As you wish” beast, it’s………………………..1987
Good Luck & Have Fun!
1. Come my love, I'll tell you a tale,
Of a boy and girl and their love story.
And how he loved her oh, so much,
And all the charms she did possess
2. Here come the woman
With the look in her eye
Raised on leather
With flesh on her mind
3. I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone.
4. I bought you drinks, I brought you flowers
I read your books and talked for hours
Every day so many drinks
Such pretty flowers, so tell me
5. You're so gorgeous I'll do anything
I'll kiss you from your feet
To where your head begins
You're so perfect you're so right as rain
You make me
Make me hungry again
6. Tonight our bed is cold
I'm lost in the darkness of our love
God have mercy on the man
Who doubts what he's sure of
7. And I believe
These are the days of lasers in the jungle
Lasers in the jungle somewhere
Staccato signals of constant information
A loose affiliation of millionaires
And billionaires and baby
8. Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
9. Well I guess it would be nice
If I could touch your body
I know not everybody
Has got a body like you
10. But when you're born to run
It's so hard to just slow down
So don't be surprised to see me
Back in that bright part of town

I got the feeling that there was some yearning for some more 80’s from one of our participants, so I thought we’d go back to the mid-eightes for some hits and also-rans.
“As you wish” beast, it’s………………………..1987
In all of the LS games I've ever played, I only got a perfect score twice. Once was when Vandal dedicated a game to songs I had parodied on the Bored as Wierd Al (Which was easy since I was much more familiar with the lyrics to those songs), and the other was in Starfish's last run as LS Meister.... his tribute to 1987!
I have my doubts I will duplicate the feat, but we shall see....
1. Come my love, I'll tell you a tale,
Of a boy and girl and their love story.
And how he loved her oh, so much,
And all the charms she did possess
There goes the perfect game already....
2. Here come the woman
With the look in her eye
Raised on leather
With flesh on her mind
Devil Inside - INXS (I would swear this one came out in 1988, but I may be confusing it with New Sensation, which I KNOW came out in 1988....)
3. I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone.
4. I bought you drinks, I brought you flowers
I read your books and talked for hours
Every day so many drinks
Such pretty flowers, so tell me
What Have I Done To Deserve This - Pet Shop Boys with Dusty Springfield (Story of my life....)
5. You're so gorgeous I'll do anything
I'll kiss you from your feet
To where your head begins
You're so perfect you're so right as rain
You make me
Make me hungry again
I recognize this song from the early days of my erstwhile 80's station when it debuted in the Fall of 2000. It wasn't anything that was a big hit around here, and in fact, I'm thinking it might have been a song by the Cure (I hear that same goofy voice anyway), or one of those similar weird mid-80's bands that never got any airplay on St. Louis radio at the time....
6. Tonight our bed is cold
I'm lost in the darkness of our love
God have mercy on the man
Who doubts what he's sure of
7. And I believe
These are the days of lasers in the jungle
Lasers in the jungle somewhere
Staccato signals of constant information
A loose affiliation of millionaires
And billionaires and baby
Boy in the Bubble - Paul Simon (And I'd have sworn this one came earlier....)
8. Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
Luka - Suzanne Vega
9. Well I guess it would be nice
If I could touch your body
I know not everybody
Has got a body like you
Faith - George Michael
10. But when you're born to run
It's so hard to just slow down
So don't be surprised to see me
Back in that bright part of town
Well, at least I did better than on most of the other games this month....

Well, gosh! He're I'm thinking "that's more like it!" and I can't get the first one! I bet I could get all of these if I thought a bit more. But it's going to be in the 70's today, so this is what I have now...

If you're going to give me 80's, give me hair bands!
1. Come my love, I'll tell you a tale,
Of a boy and girl and their love story.
And how he loved her oh, so much,
And all the charms she did possess
It sound Princess Bride-y. Did that have a theme song with words? (Don't shoot me, PB fans, I only saw it once and not even the whole thing)
2. Here come the woman
With the look in her eye
Raised on leather
With flesh on her mind
Devil Inside - INXS
9. Well I guess it would be nice
If I could touch your body
I know not everybody
Has got a body like you
Faith - George Michael (I love this song! It might have had something to do with the video.)

It had a theme song of sorts, but no words - strictly instrumental with strings predominating. I'm a HUGE fan of TPB, but I understand it's not for everyone, so you need not fear shots from my direction.

LS #8……………………………………..1987
1. Come my love, I'll tell you a tale,
Of a boy and girl and their love story.
And how he loved her oh, so much,
And all the charms she did possess
DNC Storybook Love – Willy DeVille/ Mark Knopfler
Just to show you how nice a guy I am, I gave everyone credit for this one if they used Knopfler as the artist. When this song was released as a single I was sure that it was going to be a #1 hit, alas it went nowhere, but it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song (it lost to that stinkin’ Dirty Dancing song). I wanted to use this as my wedding song, my then future MiL said it sounded like a funeral march…my relationship with her went downhill from there on.
2. Here come the woman
With the look in her eye
Raised on leather
With flesh on her mind
#2 Devil Inside – INXS
You know, these guys were really an underrated group.
3. I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone.
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For – U2
Gigantic album, I remember that I sold out of it in one day at my store. It was with this album that U2 became the biggest group in the world, a title which they seem to have not really let go of.
4. I bought you drinks, I brought you flowers
I read your books and talked for hours
Every day so many drinks
Such pretty flowers, so tell me
#2 What Have I Done To Deserve This? – The Pet Shop Boys – Dusty Springfield
Not a big fan of The Pet Shop Boys, but I do like this song and who doesn’t like Dusty Springfield?
5. You're so gorgeous I'll do anything
I'll kiss you from your feet
To where your head begins
You're so perfect you're so right as rain
You make me
Make me hungry again
#54 Why Can’t I Be You – The Cure
It really wouldn’t be an 80’s LS without The Cure. Not my favorite song by them, but still a good one.
6. Tonight our bed is cold
I'm lost in the darkness of our love
God have mercy on the man
Who doubts what he's sure of
#5 Brilliant Disguise – Bruce Springsteen
I love these last lines from this song. This album is a classic.
7. And I believe
These are the days of lasers in the jungle
Lasers in the jungle somewhere
Staccato signals of constant information
A loose affiliation of millionaires
And billionaires and baby
#86 Boy in the Bubble – Paul Simon
Believe it or not, there’s a 12” remix of this and I own it.
8. Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
#3 Luka – Suzanne Vega
Creepy mini, I don’t know what you’re talking about.
9. Well I guess it would be nice
If I could touch your body
I know not everybody
Has got a body like you
#1 Faith – George Michael
Yeah, it’s not something that I would expect myself to like, but I have to admit it, this is a great song.
10. But when you're born to run
It's so hard to just slow down
So don't be surprised to see me
Back in that bright part of town
#13 Back in the High Life Again – Steve Winwood
If you like the original, check out Warren Zevon’s version too.
