Articles reporting on Indianapolis audition

#1 Post by MarleysGh0st » Thu Jun 18, 2009 6:17 am

Show producers said a contestant's circumstances make a difference to Philbin.

"I actually talked to him before we came on the road and asked what type of contestants he wants sitting opposite of him. He definitely said in this economy, find people who are hurting, and let's help them," Sirop said.
"Find some Slumdogs, Rich."
The "Millionaire" auditions will visit nine cities to find contestants. Producers said so far, Indianapolis has had one of the biggest turnouts.
One of the three biggest, for sure!

http://www.wibc.com/news/Story.aspx?id=1104139
Potential contestants were screened by taking a ten minute test. If they passed the test, they were taken into a room for a one-on-one interview. Sirop says the contestants picked were people who were just being themselves.
So were the auditioners who weren't picked, Rich. Perhaps that means the phrase is meaningless, unless you specify which "themselves" you're looking for.

Sounds like I had a lot more fun heading west than I would have heading east......

Unless you consider the fact that this ^#&@ hotel has picked the middle of the vacation season to upgrade its parking lot. Actually got trapped in here yesterday, and got a notice under the door this morning to please move our cars by 9 AM. They can kiss my ass since I'm not leaving until 10:30ish......

Nine cities, eh? We know the first six, so that leaves three more to be revealed.

Given the overly generous amount of roadkill littering I-70 between St. Louis and Kansas City, I would say it's a good think I left ES at home this time around.........

And these guys have a steamroller..... don't tell Sprots!

So, nine road auditions planned, six are known. I speculate at least two of those will be in the Western U.S. Vegas? Seattle? LA? Sacramento? One more in the Midwest, such as St. Louis or Minneapolis?

I'm still skeptical about the return of the phone game. Without it, I'll rule out the possibility of this year's PTBAM for my show appearance. Retirement funds took a significant hit, but we're not immediately hurting from the country's economic woes.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Maybe your upholstery will make it there, but I have it on good authority that any metallic parts you got will be used to make new rebar. Hope you like being stuck in a concrete bridge!

Without the phone game, I can't get on PTBAM at all- since NYC auditions are fileld up for July, and unless one of the three remaining cities is Philly, Baltimore, or Washington DC, I'm SOL.

I wonder now if the PG will come back- especially since they said they're looking for slumdogs. How can you tell if someone is a slumdog from the phone game?

PS- Anyone who has an audition to go to, lie about being poor or hurting from the recession. I'm serious- do it!

If the call comes from a pay phone..... assuming one could find one of those anymore........

Nope, I will not. We are comfortable, though nervous along with the rest of the country. GW got back to work after our trip to find that 10% of her company had been laid off. No one from her immediate group since her section is doing well, but there were people she knew and occassionally worked with.

The "what would you do with the money" question will be answered honestly with mention of replenishing the retirement coffers and other items which I will make as exciting and interesting as possible. It would be too easy for local newspapers and even national news to jump on your head if Regis discusses your bad economic situation with you during your hotseat stay and they find out that you've got a chauffeur and a vacation home in Switzerland. (I'm exaggerating, but you get the idea. Our vacation home's in St. Kitts. :P )

If they're listening to BB requests, the final auditions will be in Boston, Kalamazoo and Bentonville.

I've got my NYC audition already scheduled. Replace Boston with Ithaca. You're welcome.

The next time TPTB listen to us will be the first.

No thanks, I've already said I'm not in the mindset for a spring audition. Let's give this one back to the west coasters--someplace convenient like Spokane.

They did hold an audition in Ithaca during the '02 bus tour and I know they'll never return. And that one (which was across the street from where I worked at the time) was restricted to college students only.

I am totally feeling you brother! But I drew that to draw attention to the plight our beautiful species faces each and every day by the millions of squirrel haters out there! One of these days, we'll be treated with the dignity we deserve and squirrel jockeys will be a thing of the past......
Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

--squirrelmama (10/3/07)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.
