In the mean time

here, on the hill, Sting is da man!
It was not melting. I was sure I was going to have to miss my dinner/meeting.
Sting went out and threw the salt sand by hand so I can get out.
He is also going to drive me down the hill, because that is the most dangerous way. I should be able to make it up tonight without getting hurt.

I am more worried about our clients who do not have their deer protection done yet. That could be a real problem for us.

But some deer may be full and happy.
A couple weeks ago here at work, we noticed that a deer had been rubbing his antlers against one of our trees and nearly completely girdled it. We're surrounded by forest, but this deer had to pick a tree right next to our front entrance!
We've got some hunters who work here; stuff like this could tempt them to slide open a window and take a shot right from their desk...

And they would do this because they have no other source of food and there are no grocery stores in the area?????

I had much angst about it, as he put it off longer than I thought was prudent.
The deer eat prized shrubbery - bushes that have cost these people more than most people make in a year.

Not being a hunter, I won't attempt to explain their hunter instincts. However, despite there being rules against discharging weapons in populated neighborhoods, when I hear their stories of stalking for hours through the woods without result, only to have the game walk right up to their office window and taunt them, I
can understand the temptation.
Yesterday, it was a couple wild turkeys.

There have been 'rumors' about caretakers shooting deer 'out of season', supposedly 'on orders' to do so.
