WWTBAM Bored

I'm back, with a car safely moved to streetside. About 10 minutes after changing locations, a branch from the big "more solid" tree (under which I'd been parked for the last few hours) joined its colleagues on the ground. I got most of the ice off the windshield, back window and, to a lesser extent, the side windows, but I still can't drive much farther. The window wipers are lodged in about 2 inches of solidity, and I can't budge that stuff. I will have to wait for a thaw.

It's a good thing Lizbit didn't pull her trick of locking the door. Even though I left the back unlocked, more fallen branches on the side of the house mean that I will have to cut, saw, and prune my way to the fence gate.

Oh man!

Do you have everything you need in your house? I know that you hadn't been feeling well, do you have groceries, etc?

You sure the street is the best place for a car in an ice storm? Branches can do serious damage but then so can a car careening across an icy street...



Might want to look for a non street, non beneath branches kind of location if such a thing can be found...

Last night I didn't move the car to the street because of the same logic. Now there are cars on the street on both sides, so at least one car will not provide an unexpected obstacle. It's a cul de sac, so there's no "through" traffic. At that, the streets are in better shape than the trees.

I think I'd have to go blocks away to find a non-street, non-branched location. Because of her difficulty in walking on slippery stuff, Annie would have a hard time getting that far in case of emergency, and she's too big for me to carry.

The electricity has gone off about three blocks from here. My lights are flickering.

Oh boy.

Hang in there, SC. I saw a picture of the trees near OU and the storm looks pretty bad.

I so much want to post a snarky comment about this being the day Al Gore gets his Nobel Prize, while the folks back home are being coated in ice, but that would be insensitive to those who are about to lose their electricity and are looking for anything they might could burn to keep warm.

Ice storms suck.

Stay warm and safe. I really, really hope your electricity stays on. If you are like us in this area, you have everything ready for major ice storms, like a generator.
