LA Dodgers/Andruw Jones

Have they really offered him 18 million a year for 2 years
They'll likely get more out of him than they did those 2 years of J.D. Drew....macrae1234 wrote:Have they really offered him 18 million a year for 2 years
I think this is a pretty smart move. Of all the free agent CFs who were on the market this winter, Jones is the one who's probably going to be the best over the next 2 years, not Hunter.macrae1234 wrote:Have they really offered him 18 million a year for 2 years

Based on the Royals paying $12 million/year to Jose Guillen, I think that the Dodgers are getting a steal.macrae1234 wrote:Have they really offered him 18 million a year for 2 years
The Los Angeles Times reported (I can't remember whether it was couched as speculation or sourced) that the Dodgers would use the extra outfielder as a bargaining chip, likely trading either Kemp or Ethier for a pitcher such as Haren. --BobToLiveIsToFly wrote:Really, though, a lot depends on what they do with Pierre. If they admit their mistake from last year, and recognize that a guy who doesn't get on base, doesn't hit for power, and is lousy at defense doesn't belong starting for a contender, it's a great move. If they think all the money they're wasting on him for - what - the next 3 years means they have to start him ahead of either Kemp or Ethier, not so good.
