I would have believed the audience and gone down, as well. I don't remember ever hearing about any of these "operating systems."
In my defense, I have heard of the iPhone. Big whoop.

That's pretty tough for $16k...the audience should be able to help at that level. It's not like the answers were all over the place either, 58% is pretty convincing.

I was watching this with my 13-year old son who shouted out "Android" before the choices were even shown. He was shocked and dismayed as the audience misled our poor contestant.

Don't recall if anyone keeps stats on this, but my gut says it's pretty rare for the audience to peg the correct answer as their third most popular guess.

That's what happened on my glowing vegetable question.
Tomato - 64%
Cabbage - 22%
Potato - 12%
Carrots - 2%
EDIT -- sorry, I wrote tomato twice. Now fixed.

Wow. The top 2 were wrong with an even greater percentage than today's question. Doesn't everyone know it was a tomato?

HEY!!! What happened to Tracy Zothner???
From Friday's transcript:
As they come back from commercial we see Tracy Zothner from Apex, NC, the on-deck contestant. She's eager to get into the Hot Seat because she's unemployed. Meredith asks Richard if he has any advice for Tracy. He says to read the question twice and sometimes go with your gut. He knew the answers on the questions that he used lifelines for, but wanted to "lock in" the answers.
She could have been a llama, but then why didn't they edit out her brief appearance as the "on-deck" contestant on Friday's show?
BBTranscriptTeam wrote:$4K Which of these authors’ monograms is the same as the name of a well-known delivery company?

I was looking for Upton P. Sinclair.

(except that that's not his middle initial)

Wow! Looks like Google needs to do some more effective marketing. Who'd have thought the right answer would be the audience's third choice? Oh, and thanks, gsabc, for the following line: "I have one of those Google phones but I spend half my time searching for it." elwing thought it was a hoot.

The two articles I found about Tracy say she gets her turn on today's show.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16711
But I do hope they offer some explanation about why she disappeared from the on-deck position.
Maybe it was some energy backlash, when Richard broke the Curse of the On-Deck Contestant Introduction!

I doubt we'll get any such information.

TPTB aren't known for being forthcoming.

Ah! But you forget I was there! At the beginning of the day they decided to re-randomize the order thus forcing Tracy to wait more. Side Note: She was NOT happy about this.

Nope. I'm in the "cheap bastard" category. My cellphone is three years old and counting. I make phone calls on it. I take more photos of the inside of my pocket than I do of intended views. If I sent five text messages this month, it would be a new record. Unless it breaks, I have no intention of replacing it.
My current (old) plan has way more minutes than I need. I looked at new plans to try to lower my monthly payment. Those now available have half the minutes and fewer bells and whistles
for the same price. I don't want to change.

We have AT&T, and for a long time we had thousands of rollover minutes. What they don't tell you is that the minutes do expire after a year; that wasn't a problem for us because our cell phones are generally used only in short intervals and generally we call each other (those minutes don't count). However a couple years ago we graciously added a friend (who was, and is, "chronically unemployed") and had no phone of her own. We knew that she was more garrulous than we were but also figured that the rollover minutes we had amassed would be sufficient to provide for her garrulousness. We figured wrong - in less than 12 months she managed to use up all of our minutes and more, with calls to and from her children (both of whom are adults but who haven't managed to cut the cord) and her four siblings. Regrettably we had to take her off our plan when our phone bill tripled.
