LS #3……………………………………1966

Too much to choose from in ’66. , including 3 versions of Mame!?, 4 Top 30 hits for Herman’s Hermits!? & 2 hits for Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler.
But none of them made it to our game today, we do have 10 songs that made it into the Top 10, including 3 #1’s, 2 #2’s, a #3, a #4 , a #5 and 2 #7’s!

Good Luck & Have Fun!

1. Oh, who's to blame
That girl's just insane
Well nothin' I do don't seem to work
It only seems to make matters worse
Oh, please

2. When you squeeze me real tight
You make wrong things right
And I can't stop loving you
And I won't stop calling you

3. When vague desire is the fire in the eyes of chicks
Whose sickness is the games they play
And when the masquerade is played and neighbor folks make jokes
As who is most to blame today

4. Why dont you be a man about it
And set me free
Now you dont care a thing about me
Youre just using me

5. But what can I do, I'm lonely too
And it makes me feel so good to know
You'll never leave me

6. If I had my way
She'd be back today
But she don't intend
To see me again, Ooh-Ooh
What can I do
'Cause I-I-I-I-I'm feelin' blue

7. I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my room
Safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me

8. I should have known you'd bid me farewell
There's a lesson to be learned from this and I learned it very well
Now, I know you're not the only starfish in the sea
If I never hear your name again, it's all the same to me

9. Something in your eyes was so inviting,
Something in you smile was so exciting,
Something in my heart,
Told me I must have you.

10. As I walk this land with broken dreams
I have visions of many things
Love's happiness is just an illusion
Filled with sadness and confusion

Putting today's brand of suckitude into perspective, in 1966 I was Erin's age, and she drinks from a sippy cup...

Spoiler
1. Oh, who's to blame
That girl's just insane
Well nothin' I do don't seem to work
It only seems to make matters worse
Oh, please

Rolling Stones. But which song...? Aaaaagh!

2. When you squeeze me real tight
You make wrong things right
And I can't stop loving you
And I won't stop calling you

Nope

3. When vague desire is the fire in the eyes of chicks
Whose sickness is the games they play
And when the masquerade is played and neighbor folks make jokes
As who is most to blame today

Nope

4. Why dont you be a man about it
And set me free
Now you dont care a thing about me
Youre just using me

Set Me Free by the Supremes would be too obvious, but it's all I got....

5. But what can I do, I'm lonely too
And it makes me feel so good to know
You'll never leave me

I probably know this. But not now...

6. If I had my way
She'd be back today
But she don't intend
To see me again, Ooh-Ooh
What can I do
'Cause I-I-I-I-I'm feelin' blue

I've heard this about 6 million times without knowing what it's called or who sings it. I can come sing it to you.... Something about Black Is Black. I Want My Baby Back. Etc. I hope the title is in there somewhere...

7. I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my room
Safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me

I Am a Rock. Simon and Garfunkel. I know one! Woo Hoo!!!

8. I should have known you'd bid me farewell
There's a lesson to be learned from this and I learned it very well
Now, I know you're not the only starfish in the sea
If I never hear your name again, it's all the same to me

AAAGGHH!! I know this! What is it!!!!!! I will know this when I see it and do the V8 thing...

9. Something in your eyes was so inviting,
Something in you smile was so exciting,
Something in my heart,
Told me I must have you.

Fraaaaaaank. Strangers in the Night. Frank Sinatra. And not the version you sing in high school.*

10. As I walk this land with broken dreams
I have visions of many things
Love's happiness is just an illusion
Filled with sadness and confusion

Reach Out. Or I'll Be There. Whatever it's called. Four Tops?

*C'mon--you've heard it. Strangers in the night, exchanging rubbers. This one is too tight, must be my brother's....
