Just got our first delivery of locally grown organic produce.
1 squash
4 small potatoes
3 largish tomatoes
6 apples
4 pears
7 oranges
2 bok choy
handful mushrooms
$30, every two weeks. We will get an email Thursdays asking what to deliver on tuesdays.
Yum.
Now I just gotta figure out how to deal with the bok choy.

I left out 4 really large bananas.
I told Mom, it's more than I would pay at the grocery store, but what I like about it is a little bit that it's local, a very little bit that it's organic, and a whole lot that they will bring it to my house.
I'm already planning ahead to the mushrooms.......

I like this idea. It is sort of the new fangled version of the milkman. I like how you can pick out what you want for the next week. It makes it even better that the communication is via email. What a time saver. For me, that would be very convenient, as I plan out my menus weeks in advance. Does the $30 cover a certain amount of items/lbs for that time frame?
I completely understand what you mean about supporting local folks. I feel better when I can contribute to our town in that way.
Let us know how everything tastes!

Here's the website. The paper brochure doesn't say anything about a certain number of lbs.
The master list is a lot longer than the one they sent last Thursday, because of course they are only buying stuff that's in season.

There used to be a home grocer that delivered that we just called "The Peach Guy," but I think the proper name was HomeGrocer.com.
I loved using them because their produce was nicer than anything in the stores. They work booties when they brought the food into my house and they always had animal crackers for Emma.
They weren't cheap, but I found that I spent less on groceries because I had a plan for everything that I bought.
