I was surprised that Calder wasn't one of the choices, since he invented mobiles. It certainly would have been a very nasty distractor.

I was expecting Calder. I still have the DD, so the question is whether to use it or not. I'm pretty sure it's going to be one of the "lesser" artists on the list - Duchamp or Magritte, so if I were courageous enough to DD, those would be my choices, and I'd end up going for $500K with no lifelines. But in reality I'd probably chicken out and walk away just as Max did.

Staring at the choices, I would have said Duchamp if forced to do so. No idea why. Must be another of those facts hiding in the dark and nearly inaccessible reaches of my memory. Without lifelines, I'd have walked, too. Nice run, though. Wish we could see these high-level questions more often.

I knew it wasn't Matisse; I knew it wasn't Magritte. I thought of Calder before the choices came up, too. I would've guessed Duchamp, but there's no way I'd have bet a quarter million dollars.

Thus begins my WWTBAM debut - sort of. My husband and I were in the audience for 3 "days" starting with this show.

Oddly enough, we started watching today and neither of us remembered this particular contestant (probably because he was gone so quickly). The hubby quickly guessed A (I had no idea other than it wasn't B). So we're watching along, Meredith reveals the answer. I said "Hey, how'd you know that?" He shrugged. Then Meredith stands up and of all things, I remember her OUTFIT!

"Wait a minute...hey, there we are!"
"Huh?"
"This is the show we saw."
"Really? Oh yeah, there we are. I don't remember this guy. Did you just hit me on TV?"
"I remember now. You guessed it right then, too, and I asked you how you knew it!!"

Those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it...
