For all the squirrel lovers on the bored

#1 Post by ulysses5019 » Mon Mar 30, 2009 4:53 pm

I was reading about Johnny Carson on wiki and came across this:
Carson soon hosted a morning television program called The Squirrel's Nest. One of his routines involved interviewing pigeons on the roof of the local Court House that would allegedly relate the political corruption they had seen.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

I have no objection to squirrels per se; there are a few in our neighborhood and the seminary I attended was almost overrun with them (everyone said they were looking for "theological nuts"). However I draw the line at scritches.

I love squirrels. Especially when you braise them in a nice sherry wine sauce, with a little cardamon and just a hint of cloves and cinnamon.
Innocent, naive and whimsical. And somewhat footloose and fancy-free.

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

I'm sure my conejo al jerez recepe can be adapted for ardillas.

'Round these parts squirrels are a component of burgoo, or "varmint stew".

I think Jerome Bettis has it. Or lb took it and traded it in for a dollar bill.

You meant one.

You did not forget to include Sprots.

Sprots does not love any rodents, including the furball that one of her best friends keeps as a pet. Sprots wishes that HeCAT-e would eat the furball.

Sprots's friend does not wish this, and so the furball is still alive and thriving. Ugh!

Now I agree with ES on this, about his not being edible.

But if WG wants to cook him up in a nice sherry sauce, more power to him!
