On topic writing/editing help?

#1 Post by mikehardware » Mon Mar 30, 2009 5:57 am

Every year, as newbies and Bored veterans start preparations for audition season, there are always questions about the process, how to improve, all that stuff. Rather than the usual short, encouraging replies, I thought it might be nice to have a full-blown everything that's known about the audition process explanation available. I've made an attempt at a first cut.

I'd really like to have folks look it over. If it's something that you all think could be useful (after some much needed corrections and additions), then we could post it on the Bored and refer newbies to that.

I've stuck it out on Google Docs, so several people can edit simultaneously. Just send me an email, and I'll add you to the list that can access the file. I've got to get to work now, so I'll check the email tonight. Thanks everybody!

I was thinking about a subforum for study lists. The first post would be a wish list, with ideas for topics we could post about. We did this several years ago, when JBillyGirl wrote about 12 operas worth knowing, I did 6-8 philosophers, etc.

I saved most of those lists, and can retype them, but we should also have an updated list of celebrity weddings and kids, maintained by someone who follows them. And other similar shifting pop culture topics, like current TV shows that we could update now and then as they go off the air or major characters get killed or married.

The idea is we could have a place for active auditioners to study, and if someone dint care to visit, it wouldn't clutter up the main board. I'd be glad to monitor such a subforum and keep it tidy.

We could include documents like the one mikehardware has written, and others with advice on how to practice with your PAFs, how to practice at home for Jeopardy!, etc.

Thanks to the volunteers! I think it's sent out the links, so please let me know if it's not working.

And if anyone else would like to get into the fun, you're still welcome. Just drop me an email.
