Yay! (I say from the perspective of someone who wants UConn to win, not necessarily that Villanova is a better team)

A kleenex for Beedum's sniffs...

Busted my brackets, too, since I had them playing OU. Really, I did.
Now they won't.

Oops.
Well, then

Not like I even did brackets myself...but, see, you should always root for my team!!!

(I usually do 2 brackets, one with UConn winning and one with someone else winning for years that they choke)

*Second "N" not optional!*

I am in third place, behind Mr. Starfish and Mr. Greyhoundguy. I told ES he should help you with your picks (and I told him which ones), but he was all "La-la-la, I can't be bothered with basketball. I'm an artiste!"

My hopes and dreams are still alive. I can still win it all after my very best friends beat NC tomorrow and go all the way.

This breaks a long Elite Eight losing streak for Philly-area "Big Five" teams. They were 0-for-8 trying to clear that last hurdle to the Final Four since 'Nova's national title in '85. Temple had five of those eight losses. They must have thought they were the Eagles in the NFC title game.

I underestimated Pitt's talent and grit (I predicted them to go out in the Sweet 16- they got one more round with their talent and grit).

I didn't underestimate their weaknesses- the same weaknesses they've always had...under Howland and under Dixon.

They get sloppy with the ball and play undisciplined.

They can't shoot free throws. OK- Villanova was lights out with 22-23 FTs, but you can't be shooting 70% FTs in an Elite Eight game...ya gotta be 80+%. Pitt shoots just 80%, just three more free throws, and they win.

But worse was they were up 5 with a chance to go up 7 with 3 minutes left...and they got sloppy.

And full-court press on the last play against a team that's lights-out on FT-shooting? Stupid...stupid...stupid.

When it comes to sports in general, basketball in particular, I have a word of advice for you.

If BDM's mouth is moving and words are coming out, they're wrong.

Well, I was only a layup and a few free throws short. But I will take your advice into consideration. And now I have reached 6,000. Tomorrow I will start on the next 1,000.
