One of the premium no commecial channels has been showing all the James Bond movies up to Dalton so I have DVRed and copied them to DVD's

I remember back watching all the Bond movies consecutively back around 1989 -- Dr. No all the way through The Living Daylights. The Pierce Brosnan movies were kind of so-so, but I loved the two (so far) Daniel Craig movies.

The two Dalton films got panned, but I always liked The Living Daylights (License to Kill was kind of shitty).

The Living Daylights was the last movie I saw at Atlanta's Cinerama theater on the super-wide screen before they tore the place down. It is amazing how much better any action movie looks on the big curved screen. Seeing the film on home video made its shortcomings much more apparent (although the fight scene on the plane still holds up very well).

Daniel Craig is a terrific James Bond but there were two big things wrong with Quantum of Solace:

1) The action scenes sucked with that over-edited, hand held confusing style that manages to turn any action scene into a headache inducing experience. Why spend millions on special effects and stunt work if the audience can't understand or appreciate what's going on? For all anyone could tell, it could have been me fighting with Seth Rogen in those scenes (which actually might have some sort of perverse entertainment value).

2) The villain was extremely weak. He seemed like Ferris Bueller's Eurotrash cousin and while I wouldn't want my sister to date the guy, he was about as menacing as Matthew Broderick. If they want to make the next film work, I have one suggestion for casting the villain: Jason Statham. Watching him tangle with Daniel Craig would be worth any admission price.
