I noticed in Cal's thread that reference was made to "Do-Si-Dos", "Tag-Alongs", and "Samoas".
It made me wonder whether the boxes still had those names on them. I know that the cookies used to be call by those names (well, I think that we called the peanut butter & chocolate cookies -- "Hoedowns"), but "our" boxes had the more generic names like "Peanut Butter Sandwich cookies" and "Caramel De-Lites".
Is this a regional thing?

Re: Girl Scout Cookie Question
I asked this question a few years ago of a co-worker. Apparently there are multiple bakeries that manufacture these cookies, and one or more decided they had an objection to some of the names. Most notably, Samoas, so they changed it to Caramel De-lites.Appa23 wrote:I noticed in Cal's thread that reference was made to "Do-Si-Dos", "Tag-Alongs", and "Samoas".

I don't know if there are additional regional differences, but I know that changes were made to some to make them more PC or whatever. A couple years ago I remember the troops in our state being split and some sold Samoas and some sold Caramel De-lites but they tasted exactly the same.
That probably didn't fully answer it, but that's all I know.

It's a regional thing. The Dallas Region still uses the traditional names, but the Fort Worth region uses the generic terms.

Re: Girl Scout Cookie Question
Are the Samoas that ones that have coconut? Those are the only ones I really like. Last time I saw them here, they were still called Samoas. But that was a long time ago. I'm boycotting Girl Scout cookies until they bring back the Scot-Tea.
On another note, Sunny always talking about GS cookies together with her avatar now makes me think of Joanie Cunningham and the Sunflower Girls.

Mmmm yes, coconut. I don't even really like coconut but I love it in those.Sisyphean Fan wrote:Are the Samoas that ones that have coconut? Those are the only ones I really like. I don't remember the Scot-Tea. I really don't ever get any other than my top 3. My mom used to love Trefoils, they'd still be kicking around 7 months later though, while the thin mints and samoas disappeared within days.
