So, Congress is trying to find a way to negate the bonuses that AIG is giving to its executives. And this charge is being led by Christopher Dodd and Chuck Shumer. As I recall, wasn't it Christopher Dodd that wrote the provision in the bailout bill that said something to the effect that those contracts that were written previous to the money distribution would be protected? Do you not find it amusing that it just so happens that this same Christopher Dodd was the top recipient of campaign funds from AIG. Hmmm.... And, it just so happens that one Barack Obama was the recipient of the second highest campaign contribution from AIG. Hmmm.... So now, Dodd is trying to throw AIG under the bus even though it was he that wrote the provision saying they couldn't do it!!! I don't suppose it would have anything to do with the fact that Dodd is seeing his chances of re-election in 2010 eroding? Hmmm....
And you can read all about Shumer's plans to recover the 173 Million dollar "chump change" by re-writing the tax code so that those bonuses would be taxed at 100%.
This is your Congress hard at work, my friends. It's so sad it's laughable.
