speaking of jury duty

an 8 week florida drug trafficking trial was declared a mistrial because 8 of the jurors admitted to twittering/googling/facebooking during the trial about facts in the case.


when I was on a jury many years ago, the minute the tipstaff left us in the jury room, after telling us for the 28th time NOT TO DISCUSS THE CASE AMONG OURSELVES,the 5 old hens started to babble nonstop about the case and how they would be voting.

I'm surprised you don't get your electronic gadgets confiscated when you're on jury duty.

The NY guidebook for jurors that I was handed last month mentioned that some jury rooms now have internet access.

My, how times have changed!

This refers to the huge holding pens where they keep jurors prior to sending them off to voir dire. The deliberation rooms are not so wired.

Holding pens? We were just seated on those uncomfortable wooden benches right in the courtroom.
