Minnesota State-Mankato, the host school and No. 1 seed in the Central Regional Tournament, defeated Fort Lewis 72-61 on Monday in Mankato, Minn., to reach the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship quarterfinals March 24 in San Antonio.
"We came out and did exactly what we wanted to do," Skyhawks coach Mark Kellogg said. "To use the analogy: We wanted to punch first. We punched first. We came out and played and showed them that we weren't going to back down.
"I thought it was a good game - not too many highs, not too many lows.
"Like a good team will do, they punched back," Kellogg said.
