An atypically calm weekend - no emergencies, no problems, just a chance to relax and enjoy. On Sunday our church entertained Brian McLaren, a leader in the "emergent church" movement. I'm not in total agreement with McLaren's ideas but it was interesting to hear them presented first-hand, rather than from his books. Unfortunately there wasn't much opportunity for Q&A.

That's too bad about the limited Q&A. A well-informed congregation, as yours seems to be, would probably enjoy and benefit from a couple hours of discussion.

A nice report. He's right regarding the students. I was surprised that the seminary had "mobilized" some of their students to come but the good news is that they were not disruptive. However they did take up more time than they probably deserved, given that there were people from the larger Louisville community present, as well as HBC members who didn't get a chance to ask questions. Supposedly there will be a podcast of the Sunday evening event available soon, and his Sunday morning sermon was recorded and will probably be available as well.
