Jon Stewart for President!

Yeah, I know he could never get elected and I probably don't even agree with a lot of his political stances, but sometimes, when he stops trying so hard to be funny, he really nails things. The sad fact of the matter is, he and his staff are probably the closest thing to real journalists we have on the national television media right now.
If you haven't watched his set of rants about CNBC, and his attack interview with Jim Cramer last night, I highly recommend it. Those who just discount him as a liberal, unfunny comedian should probably skip it, because the politics will get in the way, but this is pure populism.

I often find comedic jabs to be closer to the truth that most of what is reported as "news" these days by the media, in general. And while Stewart is a liberal (as I do not dismiss him because of that), that often does not stop him from saying what needs to be said. If you want to hear some real truths from the conservative side, you should watch (or TIVO) Glenn Beck on Fox (5 PM EST).

I saw some of his rants earlier in the week, but I didn't see last night's interview. I'll watch it tonight.
Has Cramer been keeping up the counterattack on all the NBC-affiliated channels?

Jim Cramer is a self-aggrandizing goon who has parlayed some modest success in slamming stocks and generating publicity into a personal empire of sorts. He knows about as much about stocks as anyone else who does a middling amount of standard research. He just has the ability to broadcast that middling amount of knowledge widely in an allegedly entertaining and very loud manner.

Cramer is to stocks as Limbaugh is to politics: fairly bright but selectively informed, viewing everything through a mirror rather than a prism, making decisions/pronouncements based upon what works best for him without regard for anything outside of himself.

What he said.
When's that book coming out? I really enjoy reading your posts and would love to see an entire book written in your style.

For me, the whole economic brouhaha and the dangers of unfettered capitalism are summed up very well by this exchange, quoted in today's NY Times:
And the “Daily Show” host pointedly questioned the hyped-up theatricality and dubious claims of CNBC shows like “Mad Money” and “Fast Money.” When Mr. Cramer explained, “There is market for it and you give it to them,” Mr. Stewart stared at him in disbelief, exclaiming. “There’s a market for cocaine and hookers!”
Or, to paraphrase St. Paul, when he described living by grace rather than under the law, "I can do anything, but everything isn't good."

Glenn Beck is the biggest bimbo on FOX Cartoon News... and that's saying something.
