Non-political fascinating factoid from the Corner.
2 of John Tyler's Grandsons are still alive or were as of 2006.
I had never heard that before-but WOW. Highlights how young the country really is.

Well, it's not so much that the country is young, but that old coots manage to knock up young women: John Tyler was 63 when his son was born, and that guy was 76 when the grandson was born.
At least, that's what the the men's wives tell people... as everyone knows, every child looks like his father, but it is the fortunate woman whose children also look like her husband.

So, because my daughter in my avatar doesn't look a thing like me, is my wife unfortunate?

No, but it makes our daughter extremely fortunate.

I dunno, BiT, but reading your reply in the context of wintergreen's statement seems to imply that you're a grandfather.

If you look at my avatar, you see Matias's father when he was six months old.
His father is very bright, strong and healthy, and hard-working, but doesn't have any special athletic talent. I can throw a better spiral than he does, which isn't saying much. He's got me beat with a Frisbee (copyright R thingie). We were gonna turn Matias into another Elway, but the gods probably didn't reach down when he was a baby and give him a thunderbolt for an arm. Now we're thinking Jason Elam because of how much he kicked his mom before he was born.
