I was modeling for a class today, doing a 25 minute standing pose with the students working silently and diligently when I start hearing one of the female students hiccuping. Her hiccups started to get more regular, and I could hear a little giggling from the girls next to her. This particular class meets in the economics building, so since there are a lot of non-art students walking the halls, the instructors are pretty strict about letting any student open the door while a nude model is posing. But her hiccups started getting so bad that I finally just said, "Do you need to get a drink of water to get rid of those hiccups?" just as a way of letting her know that I was OK with her going out in the hall. I think the girl turned a deep shade of red as the rest of the class burst out laughing. She kept drawing, and I never heard another hiccup.
So I learned that embarrassment can be used to cure hiccups...
