Some Idol Thoughts 3/5/09

Spoiler
I don't think they needed to even bother with tonight's show. I think they all knew exactly who they were putting through before a note was even sung. Well, at least I was happily wrong about Tatiana making it into the Top 12..er...13. I thought for sure they were gonna go for the ratings gold that the Ultimate DRama Queen (sorry Nathaniel, you're a distant second to THIS wacko) would provide, but thankfully they resisted temptation. Now we're done with her (at least until the finale)..unless they stick her in the audience every week like Can'tStandTine Maroulis.
I called Jasmine and Anoop..Tatiana was my third prediction. Had I known they were going to pick 4 I DEFINITELY would've thought DelToro was in. I am quite happy to be wrong.
As for the performances,..
FROM THE CHRISTINA AGUILERA SCHOOL OF MELISMA:
Matt Giraud "Who's Loving You" and Ricky Braddy "Superstition". Both of these guys hit their notes properly tonight but there were just too damn many of them. Overkill. Still, I think Ricky was robbed so that they could get at least a couple more females in the finals.
EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THESE GALS MADE THE TOP 13:
Jasmine Iforgetherlastname "Reflection" and Meagan Armtattoo "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree". Jasmine didn't need to yell so loudly..My tv is plugged into the stereo so she was plenty loud enough without using her "outdoor voice" and making my cats hide under the couch. Meagan sang from her throat instead of her gut, which is ok if you're a fan of mucus. Wasn't impressed with either one.
NOT BAD BUT WHAT'S YOUR NAME AGAIN: Jessie Langseth "Tell Me Something Good". I wanted to like her because if she made it through I think she'd choose a lot of cool songs like this one. She just didn't nail it enough to create a lasting impression.
HATE THE SONG, LIKE THE PERFORMANCE: Anoop Desai "My Perogative". He was kinda fun, even if I don't like this song. Not perfect, but good.
THANKS FOR PLAYING, WE HAVE SOME LOVELY PARTING GIFTS: Jimmy Neutron..er....Von Smith "Sorry Seems to Be The Hardest Word". Sorry doesn't begin to cover the restitution we deserve for having to sit through this one. The opening was more agonizing than having to listen to one of Paula's muddled "we saw the essence of you soaring high and free tonight" speeches. It got a little better after that, but the damage had already been done. Like Freddy Kruger offering you a bandaid after opening up your jugular.
A LEAGUE OF HER OWN: Tatiana Del Toro "Saving All My Love For You". Words cannot describe, so...
Jasmine has done absolutely nothing to convince me that she should be in the Top 13. Matt is ok, but should ease up on the melisma. Meagan has dropped in my approval rating with each week, and Anoop was a decent choice because my granddaughter loves him and maybe he will take her mind off the Jonas Brothers for 3 minutes..
